The hood is not completely flat, it has some rise to it. I also dug out my Stevens international kit and its the same as your kit.. My bad.. I thought I had remembered it being flatter. ? No worries! I genuinely thought there may be another flat hood. In which case I'd have to go find one. *sigh*

Not sure if the older kit hoods fit the newer molded bodies. Someone with that kit building experience could tell ya, if so I'm all ears. i'd prefer the flat hood also.. ?°° unless there's velocity stacks or blower poking out..? atomicholiday
Are they still selling them at hobby lobby? I’d be tempted to pick one up next time I’m in there.

These have always been fascinating to me although in real life they're clunky and old fashioned. Anyway, what I ended up with is an MPC Mount'n Goat. I watched the HPI Guy review and decided it would scratch the itch! Not the best front end on these, but if it's good enough for Freiberger... I like the fact that you get two grille/front end choices with that kit.

Modlbldr
Got this Opel kit in today. What a beautiful kit! Might have to move it or my Nissan Xanavi GT-R kit closer to the front of the line. Later-
hedotwo
Happy Camper! Got my last remaining 1966 AMT annual, the Barracuda. My goal for years has been to collect all the 66 and 67 AMT annuals, as those were the two years I was heaviest into building as a 14-15 year old. During and after 1967 girls happened and model building didn't ?. I have all but the '67 Camaro CV Pace Car (have the kit but not the box) and if I could ever find that one I'd finish the '67 annuals as well.

It would take a whole lotta hacking and resculpting to make anything that actually looks like a C111. Here is mine. I did remove the battery box and moved the seats backwards. Also made seats shorter. Turned the front wheel struts up side down and spaced the wheels more out. Vacuum formed light covers and parts box wing mirrors.

Vast improvement, most especially the effect of getting the wheels out where they belong. Thanks for showing it.

JJ Deuce
UPS delivered this stuff from Model Roundup over the weekend. I haven't opened the trucks yet, but I did use the Revell chrome on some small parts, and I have to say it's impressive. NOBLNG
These arrived today from Amazon. Not as nice as the Tamiya ones, but a heck of a lot cheaper. The eyeliner brushes looked interesting, so I grabbed them as well. They could be good for fine detail painting.?♂️ Edited November 8, 2023 by NOBLNG

That hood scoop is a non starter, at least on this kit. Sometimes it makes me wonder what the designers were thinking when stuff like this appears in kits. Very few of us would have decided that that scoop was a good idea on a real truck, then only with alcohol involved. Mine is on the way anyhow ? That bump is definitely too pronounced when compared to the real stock hood. Maybe it can be corrected with a little massaging. Hope so.
