Old Buckaroo Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Add one more semi truck for the day. This was the first semi truck I ever built back when I was a teenager. There is a 10 yr old thread that recently resurfaced on "What was your first truck model" that I had mentioned this kit. I found this kit on ebay with a really cheap buy it now price. I took a gamble (that's how low it was) and bought it - I wasn't really worried about the kit contents, I wanted the Box itself. Yes I know all the inaccuracies and other blah blah on this kit not being like the prototype. I don't care - I wanted it again for the nostalgia of it. But it is complete, not started and has 4 extra metal axles. That's what I call a bonus! 10

One will be built using the MGSF transit to recreate the ridiculous 'Fat Boy' restomod. One will be built to create a racing version - not sure if I'm going to try to recreate the Mille Miglia car or just something of my own imagination. 4

Straightliner59 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Stopped in at the best shop in town, last evening and picked up a few unexciting items: The latest contest issue from the remains of the other magazine, a package of 1/16", and one of 3/32" K&S aluminum rod, and a smaller bottle of Mr. Color Levelling Thinner, because I've heard good things about it. I may try it in the One-Shot purple I mixed for the Badman project I'm working on. 3

Just a question as it is a snap tite how easy on a scale of one to ten would it be to disassemble the car? Kinda unsure as I don’t want to break anything since it’s so old 7

The Scania i thought of building it out of the box but as I left the shop i bought it from a real one passed by that had dual rear axles so I am going to add one axle to it so it is more like a scandinavian truck. The western star is probably going to end up donating its chassie and driveline to end up as a Dodge Bighorn, I already have the non Coca-Cola version of the Western star in my stash 3

RSchnell Posted January 11 Posted January 11 My haul from a local show/swap this morning. Photo thread in Contests & Shows if you're so inclined to look! I went not really needing anything but found some deals. The ancient set of Revell Highway Pioneers was a nice find, some are missing parts but scored the whole lot for $20. The '54 Corvette promos were a good find especially the Pennant Blue one-those are hard to find for some reason. There was a guy with a whole table full of cheap rebuilders. A couple of the '32s, the '56 & 59 will likely get cleaned up and put on the survivor shelf the others are good for parts. All told I spent right around a hundo for everything in these pics including the lot of Speed Age magazines from 1949-1954. Sometimes it's hard to turn down a good deal. 18

Lots of good surface detail, and they really build up nice as curbsides. I'd love to see them reissued. 3

Unscrew the screws on the chassis. This will release the bumpers and body. Glass and interior may be easy too, that depends on how much glue if any was used to secure it. The pieces are usually held on posts by little rings of plastic. You might be able to pry those off very carefully. 1

Still 'need' to get the RWD Starlet KP61 and Silvia S110 kits, and who knows what they've got in the pipeline..... 6
