What did you get today? (Model Car Related Items)

Stopped by an America's Thrift Store while running a few errands, and snagged a set of artist's pastels in the box for $2.99 and a set of big chalks like kids use to mark hopscotch grids on sidewalks for $1.99. Both are excellent materials for weathering techniques.

Also found a really nice heavy-duty Velbon camera tripod in its carrying bag for $12.99. I have 2 others I use for my little cheap old Nikon digitals, but I needed a heavier one to handle a real SLR. I'm happy.

And speaking of weathering...grabbed these at HobbyTown:

Got this 3D printed 68 Caprice 2 door from Diolex (Ukraine) on Ebay and I have to give him a shout out about the quality of this one.  This is the second kit I've gotten from him, the first was the 77 Caprice 4 door I finished a while back.  That one needed quite a bit of sanding to rid it of the printer lines, but this 68 has very little needed.  Not that it's ready to go without sanding but it's way less.  I've used Mr Surfacer 500 gray primer on 3d builds and it really works good to reduce a lot of the sanding needed too.  This 68 has so much more included (even the hidden headlight grille option and the stock headlight version) than the 77 kit.  He's great to work with and I also got his 68 Grand Prix with this 68 Caprice.  Same quality.

It's a promo David. I picked up a new condition one recently and inexpensively. Polished it and will detail it eventually.

I though it was but what confused me is it looks like the rear bumper/rear light section was a separate piece. I paid $10 for it.

They may be seperate pieces. Even early promos were like this. Isn't the front and rear the biggest change from year to year on the 70s Vettes. BYW that's in great shape for the price.

More Christmas presents for myself😆 The Warlock and Salvinos Jr Mustang were local hobby shop purchases. The wheels/tires are jpscustomsmctwheels items. The drill bits were Harbor Freight purchases

I like the warlock. I bought the same drill bits, make sure the smallest ones are actually sharpened. The carbide ones work great, make sure they are marked for size.

So surprise, my dad picked up yet again another '66 mustang fastback kit, this time from Value village. This will be the third one I have, the first two being both Shelbies, namely the GT 350 and Hertz version. This one is actually also a Hertz kit but since I've already built one, this 'stang will be built however I want. This is also an "attempted to be built" kit, as it was atrociously painted red with a brush, and the unpained interior was glued in. I have never built a '66 mustang that handn't been screwed around with, so i've got the procedure down pat. Looks like all the parts are there so it should be good to go.
