That Caddy kit's not bad; I built one though in an attempt to make it stock the build got kinda confusing, so the mish-mash of colours made it look wonky, as well as the fact I did a brush body painting. May re-do it in the future. Makes for a smooth roller in the end though.

I have a random can of purple paint that's been starring at me for a while. I look at my stash and nothing was saying purple, so why not a Caddy.

A couple of freebies today. They were in a junk pile. The boxes have been wet and the parts will need to be washed, but it looks like everything is there. What's funny is last year I wanted to buy a GT90 but gave up because eBay was too expensive.

Random question: Having not looked at one in years, are modern "Snap-togethers" any more technical than than those years past?

Some are, but most I've seen are pretty much unassembled promos. Just judging from this GT90 and from the recent AMT Chevy truck, they are simple but look accurate.

1/16 scale Imai Porsche Carrera 6. Initially it looks like typical Imai, kinda heavy-handed and toylike, and I can't make a judgement call about the accuracy of the body lines without doing a mockup with all the major panels assembled. I already see a fairly obvious discrepancy on the front bonnet, so who knows.

It is 100% complete, including the optional electric motor stuff, and it does have the beginnings of a decent representation of the real car's tube frame, plus a lot of separate suspension pieces, and the scale is large enough to re-fabricate whatever is wrong relatively easily (maybe saying it should be straightforward rather than "easy" would be more accurate).

Not cheap, but much more "reasonable" than most of 'em out there.

If the body lines end up looking pretty right, I could get fired up about building this one up to show quality. I'd started converting one of the 1/16 Revell 356C cabriolet kits to a hot-rod 356A Speedster, and they'd look great together.

AMT '59 Ford Galaxie hardtop, well-built from a kit...NOT a warped, shrunken acetate promo.

Yellowed overall as they do, just missing the front fender-top chrome inserts with the "gunsights".

Whoever detail-painted the interior and chrome trim (only on one side) did such a nice job, I kinda hate to mess with it.

And only about 12.5% of the asking for one NIB on feePay.  :D

Arrived today..This wasn't on my must have kit list but it peeked my interest due to its rarity and weirdness. So I took a chance on it on an ebay auction. Looks complete but I haven't inventoried it yet, just a quick look see. The box is a little rough and the decal sheet backing is crackled but the decals look okay, still not usable but they may be okay for STS to perform there miracles. 🤷‍♂️

Every I have see that kit it too expensive for me!   My parent’s owned one I hope  round 2 brings them back one day!

Last one on the shelf.....

Lincoln Mk 7.jpeg

I would have bought a bunch of those over the years Had Revell offered it in stock form. Back in my Mustang days, the Mark 7 was the luxury fox body built off the T-bird/Cougar style. They were very cool with BBS wheels, and Recaro seat option.

On the way back from getting propane and stocking up on the fixin's for milk-and-toilet-paper sandwiches (snow's coming), I dropped into my favorite "antique mall" and found a complete, sealed inside 1/24 Fujimi 427 Cobra SC, for well under internet asking. I have everybody else's Cobra kits but have been holding off buying this one until I found a deal.  B)

fujimi 1/24 Shelby AMERICAN Inc. 427 S/C COBRA Racing Ver. '65 USRRC LAGUNA ! - Picture 1 of 9

Same seller also had a 6-wheel Tyrell F1 car for cheap, but the poor thing was missing all the engine parts off of the tree. Too bad.

They also had an original-boxing AMT '36 Ford coupe that I almost bought for the box, but after seeing it was missing the chopped top and the wide-5 wheels...nope.

Always wanted to drive one of those, I think I might be a bit cramped though. Awesome cars, nice find. Are the fujimi nice? Not familiar with them.

Coupla guys on here whose opinions I respect aren't that impressed, but I've been pleased with Fujimi stuff in the past, and won't really have much of an opinion until I've spent some time with it.

Far as driving them goes, I'm only 5'10", so I'm comfortable in Cobras. First one I ever drove was a street 427 sitting on the lot of Grand Prix Motors, close to Ga.Tech. My own car was a hot-rod VW Bug at the time, quick enough to be interesting but not "fast".

They let me drive the Cobra with a salesman along, and as I was going down the 14th Street entrance ramp to I-75N, he told me to "boot it".

It changed my life. Every shift was like being hit in the back with a 40-pound sack of potatoes.

They only wanted $6500 for the Cobra, and would go $1500 in trade for my Bug.

Couldn't talk the old man into it though.   :D

I had a professor in college that had a 427 Cobra in the 60s.  I found this out one day when I went to his office in the early 90s. Had several framed pics of it and a few Cobra models on a shelf.  I guess he zoomed around Akron in it in the 60s-70s.  He was an engineer at Goodyear Aerospace then, before he became a faculty member.  Interesting guy.  IlRC, he had a beige Camry when I knew him..

I watched them at tracks, kit cars at shows and read up on them. They were/are a beast of a vehicle. Especially the big block cars. At 5'10" 200 I think it might be squeeze for me. Given the opportunity I'd go for it.

Yes, they have a 3/32” shank on them. Most rotary tools should have collets to accept both 3/32” and 1/8” accessories.
