The stacks should be together, like a small block. I guess they figured they already have a Hemi injector manifold.
Deuces Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Ok, thanks..... Guess I'll use the one from the '70 Impala kit....

The plastic in mine doesn't look as good as his, so I think the body will get paint. I don't build Porsches, and I don't build 1/16th scale, but it appealed to me anyway. ? I loved the video of his build on this and I agree mine doesn't look near as good as far as the plastic goes. I am going to start it next week. I am pretty excited to build it. My daughter bought it last year for me for Christmas.

cobraman Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Got a resin kit of a 1962 Ford . Going to make a replica ( or close ) to my very first car I bought from my dad for 50 bucks many years ago . Mine was a 4 door but this is a 2 door . I may attempt to convert but this wasn’t cheap and I fear I will just screw it up . Also bought some wheels that are not for this project .

My father in law has a 1:1 Convertible and I have found a kit to reproduce it in scale as well as a hard top. I have two of the newer AMT 60 Ford kits to update the chassis, you might want to pick one up as well.

The firewall in the bag is definitely not an original AMT kit piece. This looks like a pretty nicely engineered kit. It's obvious that the engine bay area has been modified. There are flanges all around the engine compartment instead of the obligatory "hood support tabs" found on the original AMT '62 Ford kits. The radiator support and screw posts are absent to no doubt be replaced with something better. The interior has been broken down into a "platform" style, which is nice. The most obvious sign that the chassis is a more modern design than the original is the absence of an interior floor, which tells me that the floor detail is molded to the chassis. It also looks as if the seat pattern has been changed from the original kit. Looks like an exceptionally nice kit. Steve
Anglia105E Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Here are two 1:43 scale diecast model cars that I picked up today....... one is a Jaguar MK V DHC by IXO in black with grey top, and the other car is a Rolls-Royce 25/30 HP Thrupp & Maberley by Oxford Diecast in Burgundy..... hope you like ! TarheelRick Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 (edited) Stopped by the Barnes & Noble today on the chance there may be a new Traditional Rod & Kulture magazine, I believe they are probably no longer in print. Anyway I came across this magazine. It gives very good details and photos of how the chassis was built from 10 gauge steel sheet, how the custom bodywork was done, interior work, and of course powerplant. And the price is only $5.99 - when was the last time you bought a really informative magazine for that price? It is well worth the price, and that is a pretty good looking machine. I do not know who did the casting.

While I would stay with the tudoor version it wouldn't be that hard to convert this to a four door. The front doors would be shorter on a four door so you would just cut new door opening lines for the shorter door, then move the "B" pillar forward a little and then cut rear door lines in the body. The interior would require much the same process. This is a very nice looking Resin Cast kit and I'm sure it wasn't cheep, so it just depends on your willingness to make the leap on the conversion. I would like to see how this build progresses either way.

I would like to see how this build progresses either way. The only issue might be dealing with the door handle recesses. The original one would need to be filled, or cut out and moved forward. Then one would need to be added for the rear door. If it weren't for these modifications, it would be a fairly simple transformation. As it sits, I would probably build it as is rather than take on these mods, especially if you're not really comfortable attempting them. Likewise, it appears that the chrome window frames should be added to make it look like a true sedan regardless of whether it's built as a 2 door or 4 door. DukeE Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 That may be an MCW http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/resinlist.html GAL-62sd 1962 Ford Galaxie 2dr. Sedan (1/25th scale) $45.00 (stock body, bumpers, hood, interior & vacuformed glass) Use AMT '60 Ford kit for chassis, wheels & tires, and engine. With Drag decals $53.00 Doesn't look like an SMH. They do, however, have a 62 Starlift, which is a 62 convert with a 60-61 Starliner roof as removable ht. For NASCAR, outlawed of course after ATL win.

I kind of want to get the SMH Starlift and do it as a phantom street machine w/ a 427 and SMH's tear drop hood. Motor City Resin makes a '62 Galaxie 2dr sedan also but I think it would be molded in white like their other kits. That tan definitely looks like an MCW kit. I want to get one of those, have the AMT '62 Galaxie 2dr ht and convertible annuals in my stash.
cobraman Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 If its the MCW I paid way too much. This seems to have more parts than that one . ?? Maybe I will post again with parts.

cobraman Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 Here is the complete kit I received . 90 bucks including shipping .
GeeBee Posted November 1, 2019 Posted November 1, 2019 Had a bit of a spending spree while I was in Hong Kong, there's 8 hobby stores in the Kowloon area alone.
