Does anyone know where I can get miniature hinges that are 1/4" wide or even smaller? I've tried HobbyLobby, Michaels Arts and Crafts, and even Micro Mark but all their hinges are way too big. trying to finish up my Duel tractor with butterfly hood.

Find a store that sells dollhouse items. Most of the stuff will be 1/12 scale, but you will probably find some hinges that will work.

Also check to see if they have smaller scale stuff. Usually called 1/2 scale or 1/4 scale.

That's a piano hinge. You can find some in photo-etched sets, but I've never found anyone who could show how they put them together (you have to form side A & side B over a wire). I've looked for years to find assembled piano hinges in a reasonably small scale for 1/24-25 and 1/16, with no luck. modelcargarage.com has them in various sizes up to 1-1/2" in length, so you'd have to join a few together.

This is what I'm looking for and the doll house stores around Nashville don't carry this kind or size.

Now your screwing with my head !! LOL

Sorry, those 1/25th scale rulers confuse me.

The hing that you need is how long and how wide, in inches ?

Sorry Jim. I need this style that's no larger than 1/4" wide or even 1/8" wide and it can be 6" long. I usually cut them down to the correct length.

Will the hinge be visible from the outside, such as down the center of the hood like 30s cars? You might have to improvise with a too-large hinge set-up under the hood and fake the visible part with rod.

When the hinge is open and lying flat, it's 1/4 to 1/8 inches wide.

OK, I'll check my local store in the next few days and see what they have.

I'm sure I will find one that will be about 1/4 inches long but then that's not a piano hinge.

Can you tell me what is the shortest hinge you will accept? 1/2 inches long ? 1 inch long?

Jim, IF you can find the piano hinge in lengths of maybe 2" and either 1/8 or 1/4" that would be fine. Those I did find in Knoxville TN years ago were in lengths of 4" but haven't found any like that since.

And Skip, I don't have an image from the Duel truck that shows the top of the hood where the hinge shows. Seems like all you'll find on the net are side views and front/rear views of that tractor. I don't believe the hinge shows on top of the hood down the centerline anyway.

And thanks for any help at all, appreciated
