Jzaaijer Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 I bought this Open Road Camper kit from AMT. It was a fun built. The camper did not come with a truck. I understand this is a re-issue, and the original release came with a Chevy truck. I'm trying to find a donor truck that I can use to put in front of the camper. I have a 1955 Cameo, and a 1941 Chevy truck that I may use. I'm not sure if they will fit. Using the 1941 Chevy will require cutting it in half. I don't like that. The 1955 Cameo already comes in 2 pieces. I think I will start with that one.
Austin T Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 It should work with the 55 Chevy, the checy it came with was the 72 chevy. You can still find them easily on the bay and at shows.
Edsel-Dan Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 If you don't mind paying over $25-30 for one on evilbay that is. Even the last re-issues of the 72 Fleetside go HIGH!! Look pr parts lots/builts to get them cheaper. got a few good rebuilders that way Putting one of those on a Revell 65 Stepside. Stretched the frame to Longbox spec for it to fit!! That Mini-Motor Home might look good on that 55. Just remember to stretch the frame I don't think Chevy offered the 8 ft bed till the 58 Fleetside 55-57 Cameo's were the same as Stepsides, since that is what they mounted the fiberglass fender to!
Jzaaijer Posted December 24, 2012 Author Posted December 24, 2012 Yes, I agree. I think I want to use the 1955 Cameo. I tried to see if the 1941 Chevy would fit, but hat truck is so pretty by itself, I did not want to mess that one up. It deserves to be built as it is.
Burwell555 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 I have some of the long bed 72 Chevy truck stuff. Missing the long beds though...would be perfect for that camper! Lol. Did that camper come with the wedge bed car hauler too?
truckaddict Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 yes that kit comes with the camper and the wedge.
heepey Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 That camper looks good with most any cab from '50-'75. I also have one in process on a '65 Chevy cab.
