W-348 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Hi all from Scandinavia My son Niko, (W-409), took me into this forum, and it sure looks interesting. I started building models in the mid 70s as a kid. Then the normal story, 20 years brake and restart inspired by my son. I'm most interested in Stock and Super Stock drag cars, modern and old school, but also other Americans. We are also building 1:1 scale Stock Eliminator Chevelle -74 K/SA for next summer with my son. OK, but now I'm trying to build a Jere Stahl -57 Chevy Junior Stocker from year 1965. It will be build from Revell's Black Widow. The body is painted white and has "Decals by Lucas" on it. The engine is not ready yet, but hopefully will be during my current holidays - lets see.. By the way, does anyone have pics of J. Stahls -57 (or similar -57's) from that era? SuperStockAndy Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) So now I know where Niko gets his talent from. Awesome build, and welcome to the forum! Edited December 27, 2012 by SuperStockAndy
A.R.C. Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Niko builds some pretty cool stuff, you`ve got big shoes to fill. Welcome
ChevyCoupe41 Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Looks very good! I really like these nostalgia stockers and this looks very good so far. I will follow this one very closely. Welcome to forum!
BOSWELL891 Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Looks great, cool to see a father and son on here together
Mooneyzs Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 This is an awesome build so far. That paint and decals look great. I have to agree with Boswell that it is pretty neat to see a father and son on here. Also wanted to say that your son does some great work on here.
gasser59 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 The Black Widow is a great start to jumping back into the hobby full force and so far, you're doing it justice. I've been watching Niko's builds for some time now and his skills and execution have really skyrocketed. As others have said, its great to have a father and son building team, whether 1:1 or 1;24, on the forum. Welcome aboard.
James2 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Outstanding, glad to have you back at the bench.
vintagedragfan Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 very nice work, you should be proud of Niko, his work is progressing with each build!!
57peppershaker Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Very nice, love 57 Junior Stocks. Got a few to do myself, also with Ricks decals.
W-348 Posted January 3, 2013 Author Posted January 3, 2013 Thanks everybody for the comments, here you can see at least some progress of the -57. The engine begins to be ready, I scratchbuilt the headers from solder (collectors are still missing). I made some fuel and vacuum lines on the engine. The air cleaner is an aftermarket product, but I made the adapter between fuel injection and air cleaner. Rear slicks are AMT Racemaster slicks parts pack, I had to narrow the rear axle a bit and lifted the rear suspension a little to fit the rear tires correctly inside the body. And yes, I'm really proud of Niko! To be continued....
pharr7226 Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 The paint work is impressive as are the engine details. I think it's awesome that you and your son build and can share techniques, ideas, and resources. Congratulations on getting back into the hobby and welcome to the forum.
Craig Irwin Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Great start! And I always liked building with my son too1
W-348 Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Thanks, here is new update on this. The interior is ready, the kit is pretty nice with the "seat cover", door panel and cauge decals. Some new pics:
rmvw guy Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Your engine looks awesome! Already notice you have a wire coming from the tachometer, one detail I love to see. The decals also look great. I love it so far!
90lowboy Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 AWSOME!!! Welcome back. I just got back into it a few years ago, sorry i left...LOVE stockers/super stockers, mostly JR. stockers. Love your build.
W-348 Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Thanks guys -57 is now finished, and here are some project pics of it before I (actually Niko) goes and takes pictures of the finished model.
