exesivefire Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 (edited) Just a basic build to get the juices flowing again. Mostly out of the box, just a wheel and tire change so far, and lowering it. Going to be satin black with gloss black wheels. It's in primer right now, debating if I want to paint the roof a candy color or not. Just mocked up for now Edited March 5, 2013 by exesivefire
exesivefire Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Made a bit more progress.. still deciding about the motor. was planning on using the kit motor, but now I kinda want something a little more flashy... I think I have a cadillac air cleaner here, maybe I will see how that looks. Edited February 8, 2013 by exesivefire
Draggon Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Wow, Oh,cant say that, very nice! Love the stance!
Duntov Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 This looks really good... post more OK????!!!!
jbwelda Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 i think primer body with a full paint roof is a pretty classic East LA pachuko look.
slusher Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Did you clear the body? it really looks nice........
Dr. Cranky Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Andy, I love this model. I just sent you a PM.
exesivefire Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Did you clear the body? it really looks nice........ Its duplicolor "trim black" out of the spray can.its my go-to satin black, I like it so much I painted a whole 1:1 car with it! Andy, I love this model. I just sent you a PM.Replied!! thanks!
Nate Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Man! That is pretty slick! Makes me wanna go buy one of those kits! Edited February 8, 2013 by Nate
exesivefire Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Thanks for the kind words everyone. Getting the chassis and Interior sorted...
exesivefire Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Door panels are in the purple pond for the third time now.... But I managed to get the seats close enough to be convincing in the car. Not perfect, but I think I'll take it.
exesivefire Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 also started messing with the engine, I have this resin caddy air cleaner, but not sure if I like it yet..
exesivefire Posted February 8, 2013 Author Posted February 8, 2013 Nevermind, figured it out. Robbed the aircleaner from my 66 riv, and a parts box carb. I think its the right size and just enough "flash" Now onto the details....
crazyjim Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 (edited) Looking very nice. If only it were SHINY :) . Are those the kit tires? I have 2 of the kits and the tires are blackwalls even though the box says tampo printed whitewalls. Edited February 8, 2013 by crazyjim
exesivefire Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Looking very nice. If only it were SHINY :) . Are those the kit tires? I have 2 of the kits and the tires are blackwalls even though the box says tampo printed whitewalls. they are from Modelhaus
rmvw guy Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I am loving this one. Man you just got my juices flowing. It looks perfect! I've got two of them, now I just want to go crack one open right now! Gorgeous!!!
Mooneyzs Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Wow i am loving this build. It lools awesome in the satin black. Keep up the great work.
exesivefire Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 Thanks guys, I started some of the engine detail. I need to go pick up some more white paint for the interior panels. Also debating doing the trim on the windows and belt line. I know it "should" be chrome, but I'm kinda liking it being black
Gluhead Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Looks good so far. If you don't foil the beltline trim, maybe hit it with a different shade/sheen of black.
charlie8575 Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Nice job simulating the undercoating look on the floorpan. I always tend to be "thorough," and do it like a good workman would have and get it all, including the tunnel. The gold engine looks vaguely 371-394. I like the Riviera air-cleaner on that, too. Nice interior remodeling. I'm not a big custom guy and like Jim, I prefer a little gloss, but this is coming out very nicely, and so far is a model to be proud of. Charlie Larkin
