Rod Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Hi! Here are some pictures of my full detail build of the MPC '70 Cyclone. I started with an excellent unbuilt orginal and cut it all apart to make what you see here. I'm not much of a collector and buy all my kits to build so hopefully I'm not offending anybody. I used the Pro Modeler '70 Torino for the chassis, engine, firewall, dash and console. I modified the Torino dash to a Cyclones by adding the extra gauges and correcting the speedo. The front buckets were cut apart and hinged. The doors and trunk were opened and I also added the rare vinyl roof because I was afraid of running out of the Testor's Grabber Orange. (can't buy it up here anymore because of our stupid government regs). The chassis and engine were also plumbed and the decals are from Keith Marks. Thanks for looking!
Kris Morgan Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 WOW, That is KILLER. Pat yourself on the back. That came out great. How much work was it to use the Torino Chassis and, firewall?
charlie8575 Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Very nice. I would've liked to see the seats working. Beautiful work, definitely something you can be proud of. Charlie Larkin
kelson Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 What a stunner!,i have this kit as well but no where near the talent to do the mods you did.
TooOld Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Beautiful ! You've done an excellent job on this build . Where did you get the stripe decals ?
disabled modeler Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Beautiful work!!!!! I have been trying to restore a old one from my dads collection that rough and missing parts. If yours was med. blue with black vinyl it would look just like the one my dad drove..just awesome!!!!
Rod Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 WOW, That is KILLER. Pat yourself on the back. That came out great. How much work was it to use the Torino Chassis and, firewall?[/quote Thanks! The Torino parts lined up nicely. I had to remove the back edge of the firewall for dash clearance.
Custom Mike Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Rod, that is a stunner, it's far and away the best I've ever seen built! Out of all the details you added, the one that caught my eye first was the windshield washer lines run up on the cowl, I don't recall seeing anyone do that before, outstanding job!
moparfarmer Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I got to see this car in person. Although pictures make it easier for old eyes to see, its not like seeing it live. Beautiful Clean work by Rod...If you knew Rod you would expect work like this from him....
Jon Cole Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Rod, when I see your name as the builder, I know it's worth it to take a look! And you haven't disappointed yet. Great build as always!
Dominik Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 [...] I'm not much of a collector and buy all my kits to build so hopefully I'm not offending anybody. [...] THATS what they are made for! And if it is such a stunning built like yours, why to let it in the box and watch pictures on it?!? That Cyclon is awesome! Big "Wow!" Thank you for sharing - wow.
cobraman Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Beautiful job ! My BIL had a black one with a 429 many, many years ago. What a nice car that was.

Rob McKee Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 What a beautiful job you have done with this kit Rod. Kits were made to be built. Nobody should be offended by the masterpiece you have created here.
