hooterville75 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Does anyone know the exact name for the Green Color in the Interstate Batteries #18 ? Im getting ready to start a Bobby Labonte #18 Interstate Batteries Nascar build but have no clue what the actual name of the Green Color is and have nothing near the shade of Green it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
martinfan5 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 If you have an A/B you can the Interstate green from Model Car World Automotive finishes Interstate #18 -*#2031 gr ('92-2069), http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/paint/racelist.html Or you can get these http://www.ebay.com/itm/Testors-Racing-Colors-18-Interstate-Racing-Green-Spray-Enamel-Paint-52950-/190791701200?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2c6c1252d0 I did a real quick google search and could not come up the shade, I am sure someone might have a better answer for you
JustBill Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I used Krylon fluorescent green over white primer for my car. I wouldn't say its exact but convincing. I searched for weeks to find something to match that color. It's defiantly a color of its own. I even went to an Interstate store and they couldn't help me. A little note though, if your gonna go this route keep in mind I found this paint hard to work with. It comes out thick and doesn't cover evenly. I had to use several (as thin I could) coats to build it up. And it orange peels like crazy. I would recommend possibly trying the link above if you have an air brush and using my info as a last resort. Here is a pic of the paint I used. http://www.tcpglobal.com/SprayPaintDepot/ItemDetail.aspx?ItemNo=KRY+3106&gclid=CK2Fh4TU1bUCFdGd4AodCwkANA
martinfan5 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Bill, what about Tamiya light green over a dark base?
JustBill Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I would say that has potential. I took some white plastic spoons and went through white, light gray, and dark "hot rod" gray primers and was amazed at the way the paint changes color. I would say to buy a can and experiment with it for sure.
