wgflatliner Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 So what we have here is a Tamiya 1/24 Alpine A110 1600SC. I did a little research and learned that the car did have some prominence in the 60s and 70s rally races, and did good in the snow. So i decided to build it up as if it was in a snowy environment parked overnight and the cold weather created a frosted look on the car. To achieve this, i painted it Tamiya metallic blue, and topped it off with a dull coat misted from about 3ft away from the model. The platform is just made of random weeds and pebbles, and on top of sandpaper. i then used woodland scenics materials to add the snow. Thanks for looking!
Chillyb1 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 That is indeed a very cool little dio. I love this car and this kit. I've already built it several times and have one currently in the works. The "morning frost" look is particularly effective.
mitchell Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 nice job. In my opinion, these 60-70's Tamiya kits are some of the best commercial kits ever build. They are scale right and the detailing in them is spectacular. Also love some of the odd ball subjects too. Compliments to you.
IMSANUT Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Very nice indeed. Clever too. I also agree that this series of Tamiya kits are superb in execution and subject matter.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Nice build and display... I agree with Bandit :D
