Dwreck23 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Hey Guys. Completed this over the weekend and was decently happy with the outcome. Used Tamiya Italian Red rattle can and Tamiya gloss clear and I think it turned out well. I really like the stance of the GT3. I still can't get up the gumption to try and paint the windom trim again. I suppose I might get an old crappy model to practice on. I welcome all comments, good or bad. Recommendations are much appreciated!!
hvymtl Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Looks good to me . Need to get this one for the stash Michael
CrazyGirl Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 cool build !!! a good friend of mine has 2 GT3's killer auto's
krazyglu Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I love Porsche`s, I drove one and it was quite fun. I actually use a chisel tip black Sharpie marker to do trim, it's still difficult but you get a much sharper edge easier.
Quick GMC Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Looks good, but would be 100% better with the trim painted Make sure the trim surfaces are super smooth. Tape off at the joint, then sand the trim smooth (you're painting over it anyway) and give it a light wipe with alcohol. Make sure your tape is nice at tight, then just spray light mist coats of Tamiya black rubber. It dries super fast. the most critical part is not getting oil from your skin on the tape as you apply and make sure the tape is smooth, no wrinkles etc.

It was super fast and alot to fun to drive. The time had come to move on and buy something that gets better mpg's lol

The body needs some division of color. Do you suggest taping and spraying versus taping and hand painting it? I've noticed that hand painting seems to not leave a crisp line.
