Shelby 427 1965
Looks great, surpasses mine in pretty much every way already. Looking forward to this, keep it up!
BMX Addicts
Thanks Tomo, I think your build is very nice and deserves a lot of credit as well... TheRX7Project
Thanks Jason I began toying with the engine this morning... These are not Mopar / Chrysler factory colors, but I really like metallic finishes What is that wonderful device, and where do I acquire such whichcraft? BMX Addicts
I would strongly advise you to get the Tamiya alligator clips for it, the flat nose clips included in the kit are not very reliable.

BMX Addicts
Looks great so far Thank you Tommy. I usually complete the full body before assembling the chassis... In this case, the grille and the rear bumper are the last things to be assembled in the kit and according to the instructions the chassis and the body have to be joint half way through the build... With this said, I wont be able to apply the clear coats at last without ruining the windows. I guess I would have to be extra careful when the car is upside down not to ruin the decals or the finish
freakshow12
On my builds I do full mock up, body work paint clear polish then foil then windows then assemble. Usually my bodies sit at least 10 days to cure up good. That's what blows my mind how you guys can do a build a week! Lol. Mine take months sometimes years
crazyjim
Tape the Tamiya stand together. You might find yourself holding the stand and the bottom drops off - or turn it upside down and the top (with the body) fall off. Good looking you have going on. jrherald420
Looks good so far. I am also building this kit as the drag car right now. One thing i hope you will start doing is sanding out the mold lines on the body. Its a shame to see nice paint laid over seams like whats on the quarter panel behind the side window. Mine take months sometimes years I'd have to agree Fred, on the long run the models that are properly cured are meant to last forever (Others start flaking and drying after time). Seen many things in these threads, most of them (Like scratch building, or attaching and un-attaching parts, or using massive amounts of putty to alter parts) I wouldn't even know how to do it or where to start... Probably once I burn through the hype of finding a new hobby and my skill gets better these things will come to me. Tape the Tamiya stand together. You might find yourself holding the stand and the bottom drops off - or turn it upside down and the top (with the body) fall off. Good looking you have going on. Been there!!!... The stand is meant to be held from the bottom, this way you can spin it with your thumb...

I would love to see the Drag version... Off to check your posts The body was sanded, but I honestly thought these were lines that were part of the car... Believe me, it was really hard to sand it while trying not to remove them Edited April 20, 2013 by BMX Addicts
jrherald420
Oh trust me i know. I haven't made a build thread for it yet, i might do it tonight. I sanded out the lines but couldn't do much with the dimple next to the drip rail on the rear side windows....guess that means some decals will have to go there! lol

John Pol
Thanks John Pol, I'm not sure I understand what do you meant by that?, the tank is a one piece to the frame EDIT: Ahhhh!!!... "The Name"!!!... I read Frame IOI Sorry I should of explain better the companys name on the gas tank sorry about that.
BMX Addicts
Where are you going with those plug wires? I had to hide them going down... That is what happens when you don't have a pre wired distributor Sorry I should of explain better the companys name on the gas tank sorry about that. Thanks John. A couple more pics.... That's it for this week... have a great rest of the weekend guys Edited April 20, 2013 by BMX Addicts
jrherald420
Id rather see a hole drilled in the center of the distributor and all the wires ran there. Just looks better IMO and its easier than trying to drill out each wire.

I just dont think all 8 wires would fit in the tiny distributor that comes with the kit (It was a bad idea to skip purchasing it). The pre-wired looks like is just too many cables to put on top of the engine, don't you think? Edited April 20, 2013 by BMX Addicts
jrherald420
Its all up to you, i build to resemble the real thing. The distributor is small but its not hard to do with a pin vise and a small clamp to hold the tiny thing.
BMX Addicts
I've got you bud, but that is just the thing... Neither one of those options would even get close to resemble the real deal: In the future when I'm able to polish my skills, I'd sure love to build something to perfect scale... Right now we are still calling this one my 5th project, so the mediocre experiments would have to suffice
