ERIK88 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I was wondering if any of you guys have had this problem , it is my second Time trying to use krylon gloss black spray paint on a model car on top of primer and the paint is coming on horribly , very unusual. I've never ha d this problem with any other krylon paints , is this not good on model cars ? What other gloss black is recommended?
ERIK88 Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 It sucks to have to strip the paint from both models, does anyone recommend anything else other than brake fluid to strip paint by the way ?
martinfan5 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Read the label on the back, and it will tell you what the recoat window is, I am guessing that you either waited to long, or to early to do the second coat Get your self a gallon jug of Castorl purple cleaner, or the generic version, purple power cleaner, and it will remove Krylon without giving it a second thought, or you can use easy off over cleaner,
ScaleDale Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Make sure it's this stuff. I use it to undercoat Alclad and it works OK.http://www.krylon.com/products/fusion_for_plastic/Dale
ERIK88 Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 Sorry for late response but thanks guys I am using purple power right now and I will use krylon for plastic , I think the regular paint spray from krylon was too ht or something, the paint almost appeared sweaty bubbly and uneven .
cobraman Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I myself have never had good luck with Krylon paints but I see some builders use it and get beautiful results. They do have some cool off-beat colors. I pretty much stick with Tamiya and Model Master paints or HOK when I can find some.
AzTom Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I have not used Krylon in years ..... I never thought is was a good paint in any color. I have had great results from Dupli-Color. Get your self a gallon jug of Castorl purple cleaner, or the generic version, purple power cleaner Super Clean has not been made by Castrol for several years, It's now just called "Super Clean" and is in a purple bottle.
