glenboy23 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I'm working on the Revell '70 Chevelle and I've got this 1:1 photo as a reference. The instructions call for the intake manifold and the exhaust headers to be aluminum. I get that, but the headers don't look aluminum in this picture.. Also I'm wondering what that bronze color is on the master cylinder and the brake booster. I'd appreciate any tips on brush paints and colors for this build.
slusher Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The headers look flat black in the picture. l use testors gold bottle paint for brake boosters and master cylinder tops. aluminum and aluminum metalizers also will work for headers and exhaust. l paint lots of my headers white...
Art Anderson Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 I think a lot depends on whether one is building this car as it existed when new in 1970, or as it might be "restored" today. As originally built, cast iron exhaust manifolds tended to burn off any engine paint that got on them very quickly, and then turn a nice rusty iron color. Modern restorers like using any of the various high temperature paints formulated for exhaust manifolds, and those do come in a variety of colors, do they not? Art
glenboy23 Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Thanks for the ideas. I'm going to pick up some of the testors gold.
