Dodge BigHorn Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 That truck looks AMAZING!! My neighbor had one of these when I was a kid, ugly yellow paint, with the yellow slant six,4 speed, 4X4 with a stepside bed. He passed away and the kids sold the farm. Truck is still sittng behind the house rusting away. I'm hoping to buy it off the new owners.

Sportabout Posted October 7, 2013 Author Posted October 7, 2013 Some progress has happened. Brake lines and steering parts has been installed in the engine compartment. Next tires, engine, radiator and battery. Radiator needs some correcting because it was originally in wrong position and must be flipped around.
Sportabout Posted October 11, 2013 Author Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) Crew cab has tires and brake lines now. Engine, battery and radiator are still under construction. Hope to get them ready soon. Edited October 11, 2013 by Sportabout
Sportabout Posted October 17, 2013 Author Posted October 17, 2013 Small update. Engine needs upper and lower waterhoses but I don't have any suitable 1.5mm rubber tube. Any suggestion where to find it? A radiator cap in needed too. My model master chrysler engine blue enamel has dried in bottle somehow and I had to order more from ebay/USA. It 's impossible to find it in Finland.
RodneyBad Posted October 17, 2013 Posted October 17, 2013 Engine is looking fantastic. The whole truck is looking Fantastic. For Radiator hose, check out your local autoparts store for electrical wiring.
hooknladderno1 Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 For the water hoses, could you use insulated electrical wire? Simply cut to length, trim off the insulation on the ends, drill holes into the receiving parts and superglue in place. You could use some of the aftermarket fittings for a really nice look. David
Modlbldr Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Nice looking job on an ugly truck! Style definitely went out the window on these things. My First Sargeant. had one when I was in the Air Force. Great work on it. Later-
Sportabout Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Drive shaft is nearly ready but missing paint and carrier bearing. I made working universal joints to make it easier to install. Exhaust pipe is next job.
01blueedge Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 cool looking build on something you dont see often
Chris guthro Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Needs a cummins!! Haha but other than that it's one sweet looking truck!!
Funkster Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 If you look it up that engine for that year truck should be red as my 1966 is.
Sportabout Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 This picture is from restored D100 CSS '66 and engine color is yellow. Blue is wrong color but I like it better than red.
cavemanx Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I think the blue engine is fine. When restoring, you can do whatever you want! My dad's 340 for his dart is supposed to be blue, but he's painting it hemi orange... Doesn't really matter.
Sportabout Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 Crew Cab is ready. It took over a year to built it. Here is some pictures, enjoy.
Missing in Action Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Actually, The correct engine color is red.Chrysler blue was used after 1969. Yellow was only used on the rarer SUPER 225 or Charger 225's.
