chevyfever2009 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 They actually did but it was the formula version
Blown03SVT Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 reminds me of the old ad slogan "We build Excitement...PONTIAC!"
Casey Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 They actually did but it was the formula version That was the H-body Sunbird which preceded and was totally different from the front wheel drive '81+ J-bodies. Unfortunately, MPC never updated their '81-'83 Chevy Cavalier kits when the late first gens were restyled, so that's the end of the line.
Joe Handley Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Why not use that Doberton J-2000 Pro Street for an earlier J-Body Sunbird? It would at least have the right nose and tail to convert a Cavilier over.
MsDano85gt Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Mine hasn't faded away. They did the calvier couldnt you use it as a base and make it into a sunbird nice clean sunbird i am jelous even though i love my 04' saturn redline LSJ wow didn't know they did that sunbird kit I do have 2 cavalier mpc kits i plan on wanting to conver 1 into a "j 2000" pontiac thats probly the closes i'd ever get to "sunbird" like stated above the 88' style was different body panels than the mpc cavalier kit and no manufacturer ever updated the body....??!?
MsDano85gt Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 great cars we owned a couple of them 88 sunbird gt convertable and a 91 se convertable as well
Greg Cullinan Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Psychographic, yours is a beauty. Love the white wheels. Really clean, looks like a fun ride.
dj89sse Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 after thinking more that would be a Grand Am under the Pontiac banner
JTalmage Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 When I clicked on this thread, I was actually expecting to see the Pontiac G8 GXP.... lol
gray07 Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 Those are great looking cars, never seen them, i always seen the cavaliers, i even bought a new z24 in 89 red with grey interier. love the front end on that sunbird though.
Zarana-X Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 They actually did but it was the formula version I had this kit as a kid. Pretty cool, but I'm not sure how I destroyed it. I still have the wing and the engine block.
kruleworld Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Heh, we never got the Sunbird in australia, but GM did use the name as a trim level on their base model Holden Torana. My sister had a four cylinder Torana Sunbird.
Nxr Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) The sunbird seems a lot like the last toronado generation which, i have never ever seen in person. I have seen so many toronados from 60's and 70's but never this one! and its 86-92 or so, judging by the old A-class Mercedes on the left this one is probably somewhere in Germany, Finland or Holland. MsDano85gt Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 my friends older brother had had 2 of those late 80's early 90's olds toronados one of them was the decked out top of the line luxary "trofeo" edition..... the other was a all blacked out car rather sinister especially when his mechenic brother bolted up one of those superchargers from the gran prix's to the 3.8 3800 v6 that car would flyyyyyyyy!!
