LoudFordPypes Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Hello there! I'm new to Modelcarsmag and I wanted to start off with a build I did about 2 years ago of one of my favorite car movies and the best version of a 1969 R/T Charger in my book. This is the car from Dirty Mary Crazy Larry I positioned the wheels turned just because that car didn't see to many straight roads. haha Also had to add the little cb antenna like the one in the movie
DSHWoodworks Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Awesome build Brandon and welcome to MCM. Its funny I was just looking at different movie cars and couldn't remember the name of that movie so thanks! What kit did you use?
PappyD340 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 NICE build Brandon, the car was the best part of the entire movie, I have always felt that it was a cheezy knockoff of Vanishing Point my alltime favorite car flick!! great job!!
caine440 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Great build and I loved that old goofy movie. I turn it off before the train so in my world they get away.
disabled modeler Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Very cool build....I remember that movie.
dmk Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 I never saw the movie but that's a nice car and well done!
Modlbldr Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 Nice build of a cool movie car. I saw that for the first time at the drive-in. In Mom and Dad's Oldsmobile convertible. Later-
LoudFordPypes Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 I use the Revell 68 Charger 2n1 kit #85-4202 and also parts from a Pro Modeler 69 Charger kit. The wheels were from the parts box. I just sprayed them with some rattle can aluminum. Does anyone know where I can find a replica of the police car that chased them at the end of the movie?
MyBradKeselowski Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 I liked that movie as it was kinda corny but had some great chasing. Great looking Charger Brandon you nailed it right on the money ! ! ! Now you can make the blue 66 Impala and you will have both cars.. LOL ! !
kelson Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Great looking build!always like the side stripe decals on that car,and incase anyone's interested TCM is showing the movie tomorrow evening at 11pm pacific time.
LoudFordPypes Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 ive been wanting to do the blue 66 impala. was hoping that someone would make a 4 door resin body for the revell kit
MoparMark Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 One of my favorites and a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH fine job, well done
Neil Bass Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Very nice model. I really like the CD antenna. I was in High School when that film came out so I ought to understand the dialogue but I just can't. What the heck does "unload" mean, as in "I think I'm gonna unload". They made it sound deep and philosophical but maybe it just meant vomit. Supposedly the other car was a '68 Chevy. Weird that the actor following them around in a helicopter was killed by a movie helicopter crashing on him (Twilight Zone).
amc36077 Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 no it was a 66 chevy i just watched it i have it on dvd they also used a 68 charger in a few scenes also.
knarf Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 this is awesome build NICE build Brandon, the car was the best part of the entire movie, I have always felt that it was a cheezy knockoff of Vanishing Point my alltime favorite car flick!! great job!! i'll assume you're talking about the original movie and then ask if you've seen the remake?
LoudFordPypes Posted September 26, 2013 Author Posted September 26, 2013 ow yes talking about the original. Didn't know they did a remake, but not surprised
KingSix Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 ow yes talking about the original. Didn't know they did a remake, but not surprised other than a few cool cars, you didn't miss much
