curt raitz Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Still in a Formula One mood... This is a model I've avoided building for quite some time I found the paint scheme and decaling involved to be a little overwhelming. but my buddy Steve A. gave me this kit for helping him move The Tamiya instructions call for using their unatainable, no longer available MS-5 spraypaint So contacted Jameston at Scalefinishes for a match...he just so happened to haved the exact color Mercedes Monza Grey #054 - whch matches the decals perfectly Found this to be a fairly easy build with the paint scheme and decaling not being a problem. So here' Mika' ride: The view most of the drivers had of Mika Hakkinen in 1998: Thanx for lookin'... Post add'em: The "West" decals are not included in the Tamiya kit, they were purchased seperately Edited September 10, 2013 by curt raitz
o-man Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 You don't see many F1 cars being built, and that is a darned nice one! I like F1, but don't think I'm anywhere near ready to tackle building one. Nice job.
Rob Hall Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Sharp build...my long-time favorite team, and one of my favorite drivers of the era.
58 Impala Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Nice job, thanks for the tip on scale finishes paint. Love F1 kits also, especially Tamiya's they just pretty much fall together.
Nacho Z Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Another beauty Curt. Glad you are posting these F1 cars.
om617 Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 Very nice build, also like you show engine detail. Miss the noise of those screaming v10s in F1.
58 Impala Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 The F1 engines are getting smaller and smaller, it's a shame. Nothing beats those V10's screaming to 22,000 rpm's.
tiking Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Nice build. Did you use any extra detail other than what was provided with this kit?
