My back is out. Lifted something wrong, or who knows what.

Hobble-shuffling around like...an old geezer who hobble-shuffles around.

Can't even sit at the keyboard for more than a couple minutes.

Sometimes it goes away as quickly as it comes on, sometimes it lasts for days.

Not a good time for this...

Hope your back issues will go away quickly. Being in pain really ruins your day.

Went in to work at 8am.

Had a Conference with The Boss & His Wife (she handles all personnel and payroll issues) at 9am

Was laid off and out the door by 10am.

This place has been one of the worst places I have ever worked for, but I did not expect this....

I'll not miss it, but looking for work in 106 deg, heat is no fun.

Was scheduled to have a followup visit for my hernia surgery. I had been told it was the same place as my other doctors offices are. I get the appt confirmation call and it turns out it's in the clinic . I canceled the appt and will schedule when the surgeon is in the other facility. No way am I going to sit in a cramped waiting area and take the risk of catching something when I'm just visiting getting back on my feet.

Once again the post office that usually screws up did again. They rerouted my package in the wrong direction, from that last post office location it should be routed to my hometowns post office. Lower the standards for employees and this is the service we have to put up with.. ?.. it'll come but not when promised and more chances to be damaged. Screenshot_20240629_112219_Chrome.thumb.jpg.23639a8da5e7da2646ae6bd16601a56a.jpg

So last evening I'm shutting the blinds I notice something moving around at the base of the bird feeder in the back yard. At dusk sometimes it is hard to see all the details of a small animal and it takes me a minute to realize it is a Racoon about the size of a small dog. This explains the destroyed bird feeders of late. I stepped out the back door and the Racoon sort of freezes in place. I start down the stairs on to the patio and he takes off running for the culvert at the edge of our yard and the golf course cart path. He jumped into the culvert and then turns around and stares at me thru the bars of rebar that are supposed to keep larger thing from going down the drain. I sewer he was sticking his tung out at me.

My eBay mailings have taken forever lately. Since I sell flat paper items, I ship in a standard business envelope with first class postage so I don’t see the tracking. Seems it’s been taking up to a month coast to coast.

I had on going to Texas and after a week the buyer was asking me where it was. The next week he agreed to keep waiting. Week 3 it landed back here for postage due!  It went all the way there and back. So I weighed it and I had the correct postage on it. But what ya gonna do. I put it in a clean envelope and sent it again. This time the buyer got it in a week.

I’ve had several returns for invalid address. Buyers confirmed address was right, got there the second time.  What I surmise is that the scanner / reader kicked it out and they no longer have folks to look at it.

From the way things are mis-delivered by my local PO, I'd have to surmise some of the drivers don't read English or understand numbers.

The driver doesn’t even need to look at it!  Zip plus four is your address. The AI equipment sorts the route down to the house. The mailmen used to have to sort the mail, but no more!

When you get your neighbor’s mail instead of yours, it probably means one house didn’t get any mail that day and the route is one number off.

Back when we did the mailing for NNL East 2023, we got a ton back marked insufficient address. When I checked, the addresses were correct but I noticed the label was put on high on the card, like right below the stamp. My post office agreed that the reader only looks at the bottom inch or so of an envelope or card and rejects if it doesn’t detect a zip code.

With my eBay mailings, I hand address the envelopes so I figure the machine couldn’t read my handwriting and rejected the piece as “no such address”.

There used to be a job called Nixie Clerk. That was the person who got all the undeliverable mail to deal with manually. They would straighten out all this stuff. The post office declared the machine as infallible and eliminated the position.  And we all know how that’s working out.

Lotta that kinda stuff in the world today, and it's just going to get worse with more reliance on AI...at least until AI decides it's smart enough to figure things out for itself, and that "getting it right the first time" should be a priority.  B)

People who beg you to do a job for 'em, you're really too busy but relent because they "NEEEEEEEEED it so badly wah wah wah", then when you're well into it decide they're going to "finish it themselves" but call you every 15 minutes for free advice.

I really should know better by now.

There are other ways the PO messes up in sorting mail.  For some reason, two or three times a year I get the mail intended for someone on the next street over, but with the same house number.  On those days I end up wondering where MY mail went, because the next street over in the other direction is a main drag, with different numbering.

Hello Carl, yes it’s bad. Yes the dog is still alive. I cannot get mad at her. She’s just doing her dog thing, here is the culprit.

OY!!!!! Two weeks before the move into my new house and both my Mustang's are dead. My 88 convertible won't start (electrical problem) and the transmission is not shifting right in the 99 coupe. Sending the 99 to the trans shop to see what's up. Hope it's just a torque converter and does not need a total rebuild. Lucky I have a friend with a van I can use. Just could not wait till I was at the house.............OY!!!!!!

Software incompatibility issues between old hardware (2006 camera) and old software (Nikon photo-editing suite running under Win7) where unasked-for "updates" sneaked in without my knowledge, apparently during the few minutes the old computer was online with the firewall disabled.

Took all morning to manually delete the "updates" so I could get on with my billing.

Man, I sure wish all the IT dweebils would leave stuff alone THAT WORKS JUST FINE.

Again, undoing some numbnutz ideas of what's "better" so I can get on with my own work.
