What Irked You Today?

I’ve been considering a dashcam too - do most of these things turn themselves on and off or do you need to remember to do it?

Id love one that somehow syncs to my phone too so I don’t have to mess with pulling video off a memory card…interested to hear if either of those types posted can handle that too…

Three weeks ago, I went to a toy show (disappointing show) and stopped at a model car swap meet on the way home.  Walked about 1.7 miles per my phone.  Stepping into the living from the porch (ONE step) and POP (from the left leg)!  Tried to take a step and the intense pain went from the hip to the foot.  I had to lean on the end table and managed to get to the couch.  Had to call my oldest to dig the crutches out of storage and hobbled around for several days.  I had chills as I had flashbacks to tearing the meniscus in the right knee 35 years ago when playing tennis.  I had to undergo therapy as the knee wouldn't bend post surgery.  I'm an office worker so not sure how I retore it about 18 months ago which required another scope.  Much better this time as I had about 50% mobilty immediately afterwards.  I joked with my teenager that my coaching him for baseball and backetball was over!!

Went though the MRI and should have waited until the Ortho Dr this Friday.  I stopped reading at "Complete Tear".  My son learned learned a few new words unfortunately as my concerns were realized.  I joked with the Dr that I didn't even DO anything to tear it but he pointed out if you wear out the right side tires on your car, the left side ones will need replaced too eventually.

My truck was a manual transmission so fortunately I was still living at home and got to drive my mom's car.  This time around, the car is an automatic, but Genesis automatically moves the seat back and the steering wheel up for ease in and out.  (Guess Genesis knows old farts drive their sedans).

It's official.....surgery is scheduled for the end or next month.  Kinda expected it since the pop was eerily famailiar.  Brace.....therapy.....crutches for six weeks.

At least it's not knee replacement as that could be down the road due to the arthritis in there.

I would agree with anyone who wants to have a dash camera in their car or truck. This is based on the way people seem to want to drive. The dash cam video would be handy in court to explain what the other driver was doing, if you should somehow survive what the other driver has done. My neighbor had a young lady decided she wanted to be in the same traffic lane as he was last winter in the middle of a snowstorm driving on a four-lane divided HI way. She managed to destroy the right front bumper, fender and headlights on the passenger side of his new truck and caused him to spin into the center divider trying to get out of her way. She just drove off and he was unable to get a license plate number. Dash camara might have made a good statement in court.

I told the county water department there was a water problem near the street.  They looked at it and said it was groundwater even though we have been in a drought.  Finally, after another call they decided with water flowing out of the ground it was not groundwater but their leakng pipe problem.  To their credit they jumped right on it and had it fixed in about 6 hours.

Fortunately for me the leak was between their main water pipe and the meter so no cost to me.

Was in the HL neighborhood today on coupon day. Seems like every time I go there, the retail prices are higher. Didn't buy anything even at 40% off.

I have mentioned this before, and I don't think it is just a local thing where I live. The "normal retail price" that Hobby Lobby puts on their kits is usually 10 % to 15% higher than the retail price at the dedicated Hobby Shop that I go too in my area. Locally the last time I checked HL wanted $39.99 MSRP for a current kit. I notice that they are asking $45.99 for the Olds kit in your picture. Even with their 40% off bi-weekly sale there are times when I buy a kit from the regular hobby shop for about the same price. Unfortunately, many builders here on the forum don't have a regular brick and mortar store nearby to shop at. I will still buy something from time to time at the HL, but it has to be something I just have to have and can't find anywhere else.

Well, Just got the call.

My employer just laid me off. I had been working half-days but now it has gotten so slow, that they just dropped me totally.

Time to increase my job search efforts.

Sorry to hear that Alan!

Internet quit yesterday afternoon, when I got around to calling CenturyLink last evening, the computer runaround told me to call during business hours.  Today still not working, computer runaround said it was out, would be running by 6:45 PM.  Anyway, gave me incentive to work on a model.

2 things. Got my Chewy order and the bag of dog food was split down the middle so there's food all loose in the box and the bag is obviously useless to store the food in. Contacted them with a picture so we'll see what they do about it.

The Iceman Collections has had a "coming soon" on their Trophy truck model and I was looking forward to getting one. Got a newsletter today saying how popular the truck model was and it's now sold out! Guess I was expecting a date it would be available and there would be a bunch of them made but I was wrong.

I've had that happen as well but included a pic of the damage and I had a replacement in just a few days.  I took everything in the box, poured it into a trash bag and took it to a shelter who was more than willing to take it.  They are excellent about standing behind their business.

The April 1st newsletter said it was available starting April 15th.  I got the '24 Dark Horse Mustang last month and it sold out the first day it was available I think.   His kits tend to be very small runs.

May was my first newsletter as I just discovered the site so guess I was late to the party and now am out of luck. Too bad as that truck looked really cool and would add to my different series of racing models.
