I'm still experimenting myself. If applied sparingly, it might be good for gluing window glass too. Thanks for sharing this, it will be finding its way into my glue drawer soon. The bondic does have some uses but mostly not as a glue. it works great for filling holes if you dont use handles, and it you have one piece glass you can use it to make a sorta clip to hold it in place to save using glue near the openings. You just need to put a glob on each side of the strips between the front and rear glass. Dont forget to key the area where you want it to stick though
stinkybritches Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 UPS. I am waiting for a package that tracking said would be delivered on 4/12. On 4/11 the tracking showed that it had made it to the facility in Richmond, VA that loads the truck for delivery. This facility is roughly 40 minutes from my house. Good deal, everything is running to schedule. 4/12 comes and 4/12 goes, no package. Tracking shows that it is now in Lenexa, KS. That delivery driver must have one heck of a route. 1

Between UPS, USPS, Fedex, DHL and Amazon it's getting pretty difficult to determine who holds the title for worst delivery service. I've had trouble with all of them over the last year or so. 1
HomerS Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Three weeks ago, I went to a toy show (disappointing show) and stopped at a model car swap meet on the way home. Walked about 1.7 miles per my phone. Stepping into the living from the porch (ONE step) and POP (from the left leg)! Tried to take a step and the intense pain went from the hip to the foot. I had to lean on the end table and managed to get to the couch. Had to call my oldest to dig the crutches out of storage and hobbled around for several days. I had chills as I had flashbacks to tearing the meniscus in the right knee 35 years ago when playing tennis. I had to undergo therapy as the knee wouldn't bend post surgery. I'm an office worker so not sure how I retore it about 18 months ago which required another scope. Much better this time as I had about 50% mobilty immediately afterwards. I joked with my teenager that my coaching him for baseball and backetball was over!! Went though the MRI and should have waited until the Ortho Dr this Friday. I stopped reading at "Complete Tear". My son learned learned a few new words unfortunately as my concerns were realized. I joked with the Dr that I didn't even DO anything to tear it but he pointed out if you wear out the right side tires on your car, the left side ones will need replaced too eventually. My truck was a manual transmission so fortunately I was still living at home and got to drive my mom's car. This time around, the car is an automatic, but Genesis automatically moves the seat back and the steering wheel up for ease in and out. (Guess Genesis knows old farts drive their sedans).
89AKurt Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 Arizona has centralized getting a Title and plate in Phoenix. If you want a paper Title, you have to pay extra for them to print and mail you one, otherwise they expected everyone to be okay with having a digital file in their computer system. The independent place I got the red tape done with, said 90% of the people still want a paper Title. So you can't get a plate from the ADOT office in town, or this independent office, so they mail it. And the post Office just had to bend the $&#† out of it, cheap bendable aluminum, I bet it's for safety reasons so a plate flying from a violent wreck won't guillotine your head off, it will crumple up instead.
Mark Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 I don't know why license plates can't be made of plastic, with silk-screening replacing paint or the coating some states use now. NY plates still have raised letters/numbers but some personalized plates do not, so why are the raised characters needed. The aluminum plates are coated in some way, after a few years the stuff shrivels up and peels off leaving an unreadable bare aluminum plate. With what we're paying for registration fees, we should be getting new ones every couple of years anyway...

Long-term thinking and an understanding of much of anything in the physical world are in increasingly short supply, that's why. Common sense and what used to be "common knowledge" are no longer common. Whatever you encounter that's poorly thought out traces its heritage back to the same root causes.

Lenexa Ks. is a large distribution center for UPS. Why UPS and so many others send a package all over the country before delivering it is one of those mysteries that may never be solved.

Several times, we've been lectured that it's because of "logistics" we mere mortals are incapable of understanding. So apparently the current synonym for "logistics" is "stupid", because dog knows, I'll never understand the amount of stupid that somehow passes as something else. 2

89AKurt Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I just wasted over an hour trying to renew my license registration online. ADOT has a website, FASTEST WAY - SAVE TIME they tell us. I got through inputing my CC#, and then a window popped up, with the circular time thing, and said "Do not refresh or navigate away from the page as this may impact your payment." So I had to babysit the computer to keep it from going to sleep, and had to click on the screen before they timed it out. Over an hour!!!!! So I'm hoping the Post Office will get my paper check to Phoenix now. When I was in High School (half a century ago), they showed us a film called Future Shock. They told us computers will make our lives easier, it will be a paperless society, we would have to work only 3 days a week. The only thing they predicted that came true, was gay marriage, and look where we are today. ?
TonyK Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 The grocery store we shop at just informed us in their latest ad that they will no longer be sending the ad in the mail every week. But wait....you can just look at it on their website! I get it. This is the way things are going now but I hate viewing everything on my laptop. I was just thumbing thru the ad while eating lunch and able to slide it over to the wife and she can look at it and add a few things to the list. Guess this will save them some money and they can pass the savings on to the customer Yeah right!
espo Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 My favorite Home Depot store had a fire a few months ago and had to close for a complete remodel and restocking of inventory. Beautiful redo and really like the inside and inventory. My gripe is that everything is self-checkout. They have someone there to help if the register reader doesn't work or there is an issue with the transaction, but the personal interaction is gone. Seems sort of impersonal when you're spending your hard earned money.

Many people (including quite few here) do *ALL* their Internet browsing on their small "smart" phone screens. I just don't get it. Personally, I still have a 24" monitor on which I do a lot of my computer work. But even that will will not replace printed materials. We're just old fashion. 1

That stinks! A simple solution would have been placing "DO NOT BEND" phrase on both sides of the envelope (and hope that USPS people listen).

What I'm always kinda curious about is that at the same time we're seeing massive layoffs in the tech and other industries, and things like you describe, our great leaders are telling us how unemployment is at record lows and job creation is at an all time high. Who's zoomin' who?
stavanzer Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Well, Just got the call. My employer just laid me off. I had been working half-days but now it has gotten so slow, that they just dropped me totally. Time to increase my job search efforts. Bleh! 3

According to the media and various statistics, the economy is booming and employment opportunities are being created at an all time high in the history of the universe. Again, seriously. I'm sorry to hear you got laid off. But what you're saying reflects a reality that's being downplayed or outright lied about. 1
Classicgas Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 Bill for once we agree. The bs being spouted about how great the economy is is just that, bs. 3

BS or not, even if the economy is booming that doesn't guarantee that every line of business will also be booming. It is not that simple.
Classicgas Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 True. But if looked into beyond the retoric the mainstream media puts out there's enough indication it's not what they say. 1
89AKurt Posted April 21, 2023 Posted April 21, 2023 I could have been killed a few minutes ago. I have to U-turn at this intersection all the time, sometimes it takes awhile for the light to change. I'm waiting (yellow rectangle) and see a Chevy pickup coming towards me, who used the left turn lane to pass! It would not have taken much to misjudge the distance, and I would have been creamed. Morons (safe word to use on this forum) are getting more stupid lately, my town has a higher percentage of older drivers, mixing in hyped up daredevils is a bad mix. I have a lead foot, but it's when I was on the open road, not a congested highway, it would suck to die when I'm not even moving. Can anyone recommend a dash camera?
