Ace-Garageguy
Working on the deteriorating leaky roof to get it patched long enough for me to finish up my business and make like a tree. Thunderstorm coming in now, and I don't feel like playing amateur lightning-rod. Guess I'm done for the day.

They will shut the phone down if you haven't updated the OS in the time frame that they want you to. This happened to my wife. She has medical issues and I was trying to call her one day to check on her. I called her about a dozen times over an hour and a half time period. It went straight to voice mail every time. I got worried and left work to check on her. It turns out that Apple had locked the phone because she had not installed the latest OS update. I got her a TracFone shortly after that so that she would have something to use when Apple inevitably decides to lock her phone again. Your father's phone may not have been up to date when he bought it and Apple shut it down. I know this could have been avoided if she had updated the phone, but what gives a company the right to lock out someone's bought and paid for phone just because they haven't updated it yet? Yup you said it.I felt like I was waiting for a dinner reservation or something.Thats probably what happened to his phone.🤬

All has gone well until today. I went to grab a water jug out of the large plastic bin that's kept on the porch and 💥 I felt something hit my upper lip.. next thing I know I have a fat lip with a stinging sensation. A fricken yellow jacket got me. I didn't stick around to see if it was a lone wolf or part of a bigger problem. I did pop a Benadryl to help combat an allergic reaction. I had something like that happen to me when I was 16 or 17 years old (so this was way back in the mid to late 1970's). Was mowing my parent's back lawn, when suddenly I felt like I had been hit in the neck and shoulder with a hammer. Turns out that the clothesline pole I was mowing around had a nest of yellow jackets inside of it.  Wound up making an emergency trip to the local veterinary clinic (the doctor there had house next door and was always happy to help). He gave me a shot that helped reduce the swelling and eased my breathing. When we got home, Dad rigged up a rudimentary flame thrower and burned the nest out of the pole. TonyK
I'm not very educated with the technical part of my phone but it's old so it doesn't update anymore. There's a permanent "1" displayed on the screen on the settings icon. If I try to update it attempts for awhile and then gives up. The wife and I plan to get new phones but hers is newer than mine and mine does what I need it to do so I'm in no hurry.
Ace-Garageguy
Working on my roof again today, and there's a pop-up thunderstorm less than a mile away. Guess I'm done for a while. My roof is considerably more sloped than is thought to be "safe" recently (anyone who follows the news will likely know what I mean), and working up there is kinda thrilling under the best of conditions, but it's just suicidal if it's wet. Problem is that the forecast for the next several days is heavy rain off and on, and I pretty much HAVE to get some areas tarped TODAY. I did one that had a 12/12 pitch.. that was the worst due being on a corner lot at an intersection, thankfully it was just reshingling. It's so easy to get tripped up on a airhose, electric cord or even a lose piece of plywood. All I can say is becareful and don't become a lightning rod. Be safe!

If you don't know where it is do the following. Press Settings then press General, then press Software Update. Make sure Automatic Updates is set to Yes. The updates will download and install automatically. Every time the radar shows a storm is blowing through, another one pops up right behind it. I got just enough done so the problem is worse than when I started, have already taken out 3 five-gallon buckets, no end in sight, and now it's running under the below-grade back wall. Whoever did the additions on this rental POS was a drooling moron, the absentee owner is no help, and I've let the patches wait way too long. Oh well. I should have been out of here 2 years ago, at least. Procrastination sometimes jumps up and bites you in the face.  1

All I'm trying to do is get several intersecting roof planes tarped well enough to last a few more months. I've patched it previously, it lasts for a while, deteriorates, starts leaking worse when it finally rains hard, then I'll tarp an area, that works a while, it deteriorates from UV...anyway, I've got a few hundred bucks worth of heavy silver tarps to put up, overlapping like shingles where all the odd roof planes come together...but it's still raining and who knows when the danged thing will be dry enough to get back up there. Even more annoying is that I have to be HERE to empty buckets and mop every few minutes, so I'm not making any money or getting any closer to getting the h. outta here. Believe it or not flex-seal products work well even when it's wet. I had a leak that came through the living room ceiling in three spots, 3 buckets collected the continuous fast drips. When I got in the attic I found it was coming from a popped out roofing nails at the metal ridge vent. It ran along the truss and split downward at the web runners than puddled on the drywall till it made it's way through. I had a can of Flex-seal spray and shot the heck out of the entery point till it finally stopped. It ended up I apparently caused the problem from walking over that area when I hung up the Christmas icicle lights on the gutters. I realize my situation is way different than yours but maybe the Flex-seal tape would work to seal the tarp overlaps.Just a thought that might help..🤔 eventually when your not busy having all that fun playing janitor.. 😉

slusher
Was reading about Shannon Doherty that her husband was cheating on her and wanted  a divorce.  She filed  months before she died she signed uncontested a day before she died.  He signed the papers the day she died. She battled breat cancer years. What a cold hearted man.  Where are all the real men today.?
stitchdup
humbrol black gloss acrylic. my local shop didn't have any black tamiya left so i tried the humbrol, big mistake. the primer laid nice and smooth and only needed a light scuff before paint. the gloss dried like a satin orange and seemed to get thicker as it dried. complete waste of time so its in alcohol now

Ace-Garageguy
I figgered I'd be able to close out my roof-tarping project today based on this AM's NWS local forecast: Today Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly between 4pm and 5pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. Â The live NWS radar, however, has been tracking a large thunderstorm coming this way since dawn, and I'm just now hearing the thunder. Â Oh well. Guess I'll do laundry instead. A modeler named mike
Started to mow yesterday, got cramps in the legs and had to stop. Today went out early this morning to try and finish up. I always watch the line where I had mowed to keep in line. Glad I do, saw a dime sized hole in the grass and upon farther inspection I see a tiny yellow and black head pearing back at me. Needless to say I took off running. No bee spray on hand so I filled up a bucket of extremely hot water and poured it down the hole. Went and bought bee spray and nailed the heck out of the little boogers than realized they had a second hole.. nailed that one before they were able to nail me.. bees 0, Mike won! Funny thing, the directions do not say to spray the nest and run like H€!!.. they should IMO Edited July 20 by A modeler named mike
Engine 51
New roof going on today. The tear off is completed and I am advised that 20 new sheets of plywood are needed. Seems the two bathroom vent stacks were not installed properly and that allowed water to work its way into the plywood, causing rot and mold. This jacks up the bottom line quite a bit. That’s the part I could do without, however I’m glad to get the moldy timber off the house, and thankful there were no leaks.
