Also when it happens it get incorporated iinto a dream. I've got some arthritis in that knee and there is some position sleeping that triggers this. The weird thing is when I get up it goes away and I can walk with no issues. Wish I knew what the trigger is so I could avoid it. Very interesting. I have something similar with my right hip...including the dreaming pain part.
bobthehobbyguy
I was having the same problem with my right hip. An sciatica like pain. It seems to primarily happen in the winter time. I usually sleep on my right side and usually wake up on that side.

It won't happen, but that is what they need to do. You understand! And as you stated it will not happen, and those online companies will stay afloat supported by all the people who buy online (one of the main reasons is that brick&mortar shops are quickly disappearing, and will continue to dwindle) regardless of the shopping experience. Everything is online, online, online. Basically the online vendors have us by the short and curlys, so they don't care how bad your experience is. They know you will come back for more.
bobthehobbyguy
In addition in a lot of cases brick and motor stores are cutting back on selection and on line shopping is the only way to get things.

Yup. And it's more than annoying for someone who relies on being able to get what used to be locally-available specialty hardware, electronic, and automotive items (like AN fittings and hose), for business, being forced to buy online. Interestingly though, my local HobbyTown has recently put in a whole lot more stock of car and aircraft and military kits than they used to carry, and it's fun to go there and just look at stuff again...which inevitably results in me walking out with stuff I had zero intention of buying on the way in. Many current kits turn out to be cheaper sourced from HT too, after figuring in shipping from online sellers.
Rodent
We are in the throes of doing a kitchen remodel. Piled in the living room right now is a KitchenAid oven that was in stock at the local Lowes and an induction cooktop that they had to order. Both delivered. Also in the living room is a new garbage disposal that I saved around $80 on by buying it from Amazon on Prime Day. Just arrived today is a Blanco Silgranite sink, also ordered from Lowes online at around $100 discount plus a 10% discount for using my Lowes card with a coupon. I am dismayed by the demise of brick and mortar stores, but by buying online I can get what I want without moving my arse from this chair. It was accidental that the oven was in stock, but none of this other stuff was anywhere near here and would have been ordered if I drove to the store. I see the same thing with models. I have several new-ish releases from Round 2 and Revell that I have purchased online (from a LHS that isn't local to me) because my LHS never seemed to get them. I have never seen either the 65 or 68 GTO on the LHS shelf either.
Falcon Ranchero
There's these stupid cars that the other kids "modify", namely Volkswagen Golfs, they modify the exhaust so it's really loud, and they scream down the road in those things, shifting and backfiring; gets annoying.
stavanzer
The comment I heard from the older folks 40 years ago, in response to Loud, Annoying Cars, was always, "How Nice, Daddy Got you an Accelerator Pedal", always delivered in a slow, sarcastic tone. 2

I'm an engine head, and the sound of anything well-tuned and powerful has always made me smile. But there is a point where aggressively loud becomes obnoxious on the street, and for getting the couple of horsepower possibly lost through performance mufflers, stupid-loud is about being a jerk, not high performance. The trend around here to set cars up to backfire on trailing throttle is about being a jerk too, a particularly annoying LOOKIT MEEEEEEE!!!!! jerk. Closed throttle backfiring is caused by an excessively rich mixture that's NOT making any extra power, so there's zero point other than intentionally annoying civilians and calling attention to oneself...almost always the hallmarks of a tiny impotent self-image. There was a time in the far distant past when someone threatened to shoot the tires out from under my '57 Ford Convertible, not an idle threat either, that I used to drive far faster than I should have, and the cutouts were always open. The more things change, the more they seem the same.
stavanzer
I guess it is a function of getting older. I love the sound of Hot Rod engines. But, there is a time and place for everything. At the Racetrack or Dragstrip, I'm in Audio Heaven. Driving down the street, not so much. Driving down the street in front of my house? No at All! 1
Jim N
Sure the cars are loud and annoying, but by and large, they sound like fart machines. And, I find that more comical than anything else.

Falcon Ranchero
People having bonfires during the 30 degrees (Celsius) heat of mid-day, wafting smoke into our yard so we can't go outside without smelling like burnt wood. And we live in your regular old neighborhood, but fires are allowed, but there is some by-law (that no one follows) saying what times you can have a fire, but they shouldn't allow fires in residential places at all. Long time ago we actually called the Fire Dept. because they were burning like tires or something and the fireman on the other end said "do you really want us to come?" So we can't even bother the Fire Dept. in this City to do their job
NOBLNG
Lack of street maintenance in Winnipeg. I e-mailed them about numerous potholes on my street with exposed re-bar. If they don’t “look” at it by the end of October, they may as well wait until next spring or summer. Edit: And they better not send out one of those trucks that sprays sticky pebbles in the holes….what a waste of taxpayers money those trucks are.? Long time ago we actually called the Fire Dept. because they were burning like tires or something and the fireman on the other end said "do you really want us to come?" So we can't even bother the Fire Dept. in this City to do their job We have pretty specific outdoor fire laws here, one of which says no burning, period, during most of the warmer months, absolutely no burning of plastics etc. EVER, and no fires after 6:00 PM. And almost every week, some clown lights off his garbage fire around 10:00 PM, and if the wind is right, my house gets filled with acrid smoke pulled in by the whole-house fan I use to cool it. I've only called the FD once, at the last place, when I woke up at 3:00 AM during an "inversion" where there's a layer of dense mist close to the ground, and my neighbor's back yard was lit up with huge purple and orange chemical flames, and the stench was something unbelievable. The FD wasn't happy with that guy at all, and fined him pretty heavily. I actually enjoy the smell of burning leaves and small branches, permitted in the fall and winter, but invariably some bozo puts his household garbage replete with plastic...or a tire...in the fire, and toxic black smoke settles over the neighborhood. A modeler named mike
Speaking of idiots burning when or where they should not, sitting out back enjoying the evening when I noticed a slight orange glow coming from the wooded area behind the house. As I watched it, it began to become brighter. I took off running towards it to see just what was going on. When I reached the area I could see it was a neighbor who's property backs up to the woods and had a pit fire burning. It was as high as the canopy of tree tops at the edge of the woods, approximately 40 foot high. The fire dept. was called and they were not happy with the situation and doused the fire. Very scary situation that could have gotten out of control easily.

I'm pretty sure there was no thought involved. A pretty smart psychologist once said that ONE way of grouping "there are two kinds of people" accurately is that there are 1) those who think ahead about possible unintended effects, repercussions, and consequences, and 2) those who don't.
