the goon Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Hello out there, Thought I'd post a pic of a project I built back in 2000; the Revell race van that I turned into a house painter's work truck. Built curbside, I blacked out the windows, added the roof rack supports out of Evergreen strip, made the ladder from basswood strip, painted the grill/bumpers/mirrors white, and weathered the vehicle with washes/dry brushing/pastels. Lettering was done with some old dry rub transfers. The full size truck was parked outside of our house for 2 weeks while our house was being painted. Sorry about the poor quality of the picture; the model was destroyed in a California scymic episode (earthquake ) several years ago, so I took a photo from Model Cars Magazine that was taken at the 2000 Lower Left Coast contest. Thanks for looking, Mark Quote
the goon Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Joker, Thanks. I try to do something different for the base on my projects. It's a page from an old yellow pages. Guess I should have put this in the light duty section . Mark Quote
Joker Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Too bad the build was lost... Here in VA we've had slight tremors but nothing major. I work in the Tele/Data field and these type of workhorses hold a special meaning to me.Some are just holders for fast food garbage and old receipts . Quote
the goon Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) Over the years I've had projects I'd wish DID fall off the shelf , but this wasn't one of them. Mark Edited October 18, 2013 by the goon Quote

the goon Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Very nice build and awsume weathering.... Thanks, as I've said before, weathering has always been my favorite part of modeling (nothing stays new for ever). Mark Edited October 18, 2013 by the goon Quote
the goon Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 Dominik, Sorry there are no more pictures; I never took any after I finished the build, and there was only one picture in the magazine that I have a copy of Glad you like Mark Quote
Tom Geiger Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 Great build and in my favorite category! Sorry to hear it's no longer with us. I'm sure you could build another one, and even make it better next time. Quote
the goon Posted October 20, 2013 Author Posted October 20, 2013 Tom, Thanks. Been thinkin' about another one, with a full interior (paint can, tarps, etc), but there's so many other projects that keep poppin' in my head that I can't seem to start another one. Mark Quote
