cars1206 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Hi evryone. Just finished watching Overhaulin. Chip foosed a 64 Fury. Does anyone know of someone that casts this body or whole kit in resin?
Rob Hall Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 MCW resin has a '64 Fury based on the original Johan tooling..http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/resin/resinlist.html The easy-to-find Lindberg '64 Belvedere ht is a good choice for a full detail kit, since the Fury is pretty much same except for some trim differences.
gtx6970 Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 (edited) The original issue Johan kit was the only one that was an actual Fury kit. And afaik, all sudsequent issues were a base line Belvedere hardtop body Builtup original issues are not to difficult to find , if you really need one with the Fury only side trim . You will be in it at similar costs wise compared to a resin conversion , with less headaches I just sold one maybe 6 months ago, decent builder with all the side trim intact. I think it had everything it needed to build it . Body had been painted and stripped so it was an easy resto. It barely brought $50 I have about a half dozen of the common Johan versions and decided I didn't need the Fury only one.so away it went . I've seen them on that auction site a couple times and non have brought more than $50-$60 . By the time you buy a resin body and a Johan doner kit. You will have more than $50 in it plus have to deal with the thicker resin body / glass fitment issues my 2 cents Edited November 15, 2013 by gtx6970
cars1206 Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Thanks! I will start watching my favorite auction site.
Ron Hamilton Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 This is the body you are looking for. Model Car World's body is identical, but in resin.
heepey Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I really wish a one of the photo-etch companies would make the Fury/Sport Fury side trim and scripts. I have several Johan 64 Plymouths that I would like to turn into replicas of my 1:1 Sport Fury.
charlie8575 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 I was just reading MCW's description. There '64 is a 90%-complete kit. Add wheels/tires/engine, which suggests to me that it's a re-creation of the entire Jo-Han kit, at least the critical components. Charlie Larkin
gtx6970 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I agee,it appears to be a semi complete kit. MCW's description. PLY-64ht 1964 Plymouth Fury 2dr. Ht. (1/25th scale) $45.00 (Original JoHan - complete car less engine, wheels & tires) Use Lindberg '64 Dodge/Plymouth or Polar Lights '65 Coronet for engine. With Drag decals $53.00(specify - Golden Commando, Lawman, or Hayden Proffitt)
gtx6970 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Here ya go, not mine . nor do I know the seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/Johan-1964-Plymouth-Fury-Original-Body-Nice-Scripts-Look-Circa-1964-/331066423417?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item4d1518b879
