caine440 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Just got this Thursday. These are photos right out of the box. Thanks Bandit Resin for the great work
RAT-T Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 THOUGHT ABOUT BUYING ONE OF THESE, LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS BUILD
charlie8575 Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 That is nice; I might go grab on of those myself.
Jantrix Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 I'd love to see some parts made to turn this into various years Dart and Scamp. I'd love to do my '73 Scamp.
george 53 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 It's JUST as nice as the swinger, bit I noticed the TAILIGHTS are NOT divided as they should be on the Scamp. No big deal, it's still a REAL NICE lookin car!
mcandela Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 George53, The taillights on the 70 Dart were single taillights on each side, when the 71 Dart came out it had 2 smaller taillights on each side. Hope this clarifys it.
Tom Geiger Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 It's JUST as nice as the swinger, bit I noticed the TAILIGHTS are NOT divided as they should be on the Scamp. No big deal, it's still a REAL NICE lookin car! My old '73 Scamp. Single tail light on each side.
Randytheroadrunner Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 (edited) I'm working on this one, does anyone make the bumble bee stripes for a '70 Swinger? Edited November 26, 2013 by Randytheroadrunner
Casey Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I'm working on this one, does anyone make the bumble bee stripes for a '70 Swinger? I would contact Keith Marks and ask if he makes them. His contact info is here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=71864
Randytheroadrunner Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Thanks, I didn't realize he had the '70 set.
george 53 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Thanks for the info guys. I thought that was one of the differences that helped tell them apart, the Scamp had TWO small rectangular lenses per side, and the Swingers had ONE large single lens per side. Randy, that Swinger is from Scale Coachworks, It should have the decals for the stripe and "Swinger" name on it. I have two of those and they both came with them. I got mine from Mike's Miniatures, he sets up at Detroit NNL's every show.

gtx6970 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I've never seen a 1970 Dart with 2 lenses per side.
KingSix Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I've never seen a 1970 Dart with 2 lenses per side. Probably because there wasn't one ...
KingSix Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to just buy the LA Dart kit, open the hood, and fab up a deck lid ? I mean the parts are already chromed so you'll save $$ there too. Given that no matter what your stuck buying a donor kit , seems to me it'd be much more simple to go that route .. not to mention you'll get a lot more parts for your parts box that way .. seems kind of a waste of money ... KingSix Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 George you have it backwards... here's a Swinger... That may be a Swinger but it's a 1971 .. Plymouth and Dodge A-Bodies ( of the "notchback variant ) shared the same tail lights in 70. In 71 Plymouth stayed the same , Dodge changed to the "quad" taillights..

Nope..the LA Dart kit has issues for doing a stock Dart..missing the vent windows, front bumper..and the front wheel openings are too far forward (altered wheelbase), the rear wheel openings are opened up, the grille is missing the turn signals, etc. Missing Link Resin made a decklid for it, I bought the 'Hemi Hunter' issue a few years ago to do as a street machine, but it's not a good starting point to do a stock Dart. The resin kit is a much better starting point.. Edited November 27, 2013 by Rob Hall

The resin kit is a much better starting point.. Gonna have to disagree there, Tom. The wheelbase is not altered. True the vent window is missing, and the rear qtrs are opened, but that can be fixed very easily. Also the marker lights are molded in place. Check out the pics ...
hemi Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Is one to use the 68-9 current dart by revell as a donor kit? Edited November 27, 2013 by hemi
Rob Hall Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) Is one to use the 68-9 current dart by revell as a donor kit? Yes..though I think I would use the '71 Duster also for engine and some interior parts. Re: the wheelbase, for some reason, I thought one of the MPC Darts had the front wheel wells further forward than stock. I guess it's not the LA Dart. Edited November 27, 2013 by Rob Hall
gtx6970 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 MPC Ramchargers 1970 Dart funnycar is stock from firewall rearward MPC LA Dart is stock from firewall forward Takes them both to make a stock bodied 1970 Dart Problem is neither one has the stock window trim around the ft or rear glass so the A pillars are pretty thin ,,,,in addition to the missing vent wing frames
KingSix Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 MPC Ramchargers 1970 Dart funnycar is stock from firewall rearward MPC LA Dart is stock from firewall forward Takes them both to make a stock bodied 1970 Dart Problem is neither one has the stock window trim around the ft or rear glass so the A pillars are pretty thin ,,,,in addition to the missing vent wing frames Be a lot easier and cheaper to us the '69 dart you need as he donor anyway, and use the quarter panels to make the LA Dart look stock. It also solves the vent window issue. Have you priced out a Ramcharger '70 Dart kit ? Beyond stupid in pricing. So, buy the LA Dart, and a '69 Dart, $35-40 , you'll have all the parts you need, and still be ahead of the game. Or you could buy the resin piece ($40 plus ) AND still need the '69 Dart ($15-20 ) to complete it, still need to send the parts out to chrome and be left with fewer parts for the parts bin .. it's a no brainer really ..
