It's JUST as nice as the swinger, bit I noticed the TAILIGHTS are NOT divided as they should be on the Scamp. No big deal, it's still a REAL NICE lookin car!

George53, The taillights on the 70 Dart were single taillights on each side, when the 71 Dart came out it had 2 smaller taillights on each side. Hope this clarifys it.

My old '73 Scamp. Single tail light on each side.

Thanks for the info guys. I thought that was one of the differences that helped tell them apart, the Scamp had TWO small rectangular lenses per side, and the Swingers had ONE large single lens per side. Randy, that Swinger is from Scale Coachworks, It should have the decals for the stripe and "Swinger" name on it. I have two of those and they both came with them. I got mine from Mike's Miniatures, he sets up at Detroit NNL's every show.

Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to just buy the LA Dart kit, open the hood, and fab up a deck lid ? I mean the parts are already chromed so you'll save $$ there too. Given that no matter what your stuck buying a donor kit , seems to me it'd be much more simple to go that route .. not to mention you'll get a lot more parts for your parts box that way .. seems kind of a waste of money ...

That may be a Swinger but it's a 1971 .. Plymouth and Dodge A-Bodies ( of the "notchback variant ) shared the same tail lights in 70. In 71 Plymouth stayed the same , Dodge changed to the "quad" taillights..

Nope..the LA Dart kit has issues for doing a stock Dart..missing the vent windows, front bumper..and the front wheel openings are too far forward (altered wheelbase), the rear wheel openings are opened up, the grille is missing the turn signals, etc. Missing Link Resin made a decklid for it, I bought the 'Hemi Hunter' issue a few years ago to do as a street machine, but it's not a good starting point to do a stock Dart. The resin kit is a much better starting point..

Gonna have to disagree there, Tom. The wheelbase is not altered. True the vent window is missing, and the rear qtrs are opened, but that can be fixed very easily. Also the marker lights are molded in place. Check out the pics ...

Yes..though I think I would use the '71 Duster also for engine and some interior parts. Re: the wheelbase, for some reason, I thought one of the MPC Darts had the front wheel wells further forward than stock. I guess it's not the LA Dart.

MPC Ramchargers 1970 Dart funnycar is stock from firewall rearward

MPC LA Dart is stock from firewall forward

Takes them both to make a stock bodied 1970 Dart

Problem is neither one has the stock window trim around the ft or rear glass so the A pillars are pretty thin ,,,,in addition to the missing vent wing frames

Be a lot easier and cheaper to us the '69 dart you need as he donor anyway, and use the quarter panels to make the LA Dart look stock. It also solves the vent window issue. Have you priced out a Ramcharger '70 Dart kit ? Beyond stupid in pricing. So, buy the LA Dart, and a '69 Dart, $35-40 , you'll have all the parts you need, and still be ahead of the game. Or you could buy the resin piece ($40 plus ) AND still need the '69 Dart ($15-20 ) to complete it, still need to send the parts out to chrome and be left with fewer parts for the parts bin .. it's a no brainer really ..
