GMP440 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Want to find out who casts the 81-85 stock front grill/nose. Thanks.
Casey Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 Want to find out who casts the 81-85 stock front grill/nose. Thanks. Jevries is the only person I've seen casting good quality Monte LS noses/grilles: http://jevriesblog.com/index/monte-carlo-ls-conversion-kit-new-batch-of-10-
Rob Hall Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 (edited) Jevries is the only person I've seen casting good quality Monte LS noses/grilles: http://jevriesblog.com/index/monte-carlo-ls-conversion-kit-new-batch-of-10- That's the '86-'87 front end w/ the composite headlights...no one has ever cast a stock '81-85 non-SS front end that I know of. GMP440 Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 The grill on the white Monte Carlo is the one that I am asking about.
charlie8575 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 I've never seen the 1981-85, either. It would require some doing, but I'm wondering if you might be able to start with the MPC 1980, which at least has the quad lights and similar grille pattern? Charlie Larkin
Matt T. Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 FWIW, Southern Motorsports Hobbies (smhracing dot com) sells a resin, non-SS, '81-'85 nose for NASCAR use. It fits the Monogram Monte Carlo stockers, so would fit the 1/24 factory stock body too. It would be a good start, but you'd still need to fab the headlights, turn signals and egg crate grille.
MeatMan Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Newt's Boneyard has a vacuformed piece that looks like what you want but I'm not sure. Looks like you could modify it even if its not.

gearhedjon Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I have followed this thread as I have wanted to build a replica of my car. I bought the Southern Motorsports Nascar Monte Carlo front end. Yes you can use on the 1/24 Monte Carlo SS body. You would use the headlight buckets from the SS kit. They are a perfect fit as are the turn signal lights. I also picked up a 80 Monte Carlo kit on E-bay for $5.00. The grill does need some modification but is not bad and can be done. The 80 kit also provides the wheel covers, as well as the correct non SS steering wheel. I will build this in time and post it in workshop area.
mademan Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hang tight, and check the Scale Resin casting page on facebook. David Reyez is working on a mold for it, with 3 different grilles.
