traditional Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 These simple, old curbside Hubley kits were built decades ago, and if memory serves, the only modifications that I made (other than paint) were the spare tire details..... the kit just used the regular wheel and hubcap. Paint was automotive lacquer, and trim was done with 'muffler tape'....something I still prefer over BMF for straight lines. I also used a 'tech pen' to detail the cowl vents. The models have shared a display-case since first finished so they've, fortunately, stayed fresh.
Greg Cullinan Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Really cool. It's a awesome pair. Wish they were around still.
disabled modeler Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 WOW!!!...Very nice Clifford...love them!
ChrisR Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Looks great. I still have an unfinished Modelhaus repop. Hope it will look this good when finished.
Dragline Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 They look like you might still smell drying solvents that's how fresh those two look. Outstanding both! Bob
the goon Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Nice. A friend of mine has a 1:1 red '59 Metro hardtop. Mark
jbwelda Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 kool models! a friend of mine put bmw 2002 engine and running gear in one, lowered it down on modern radial tires, cut off the top (only attached along the windshield line with rivets as I recall and in the rear only by that 6" or so of metal...the factory converts were done the same way, chop off the top). that made it both kool and fast. I would love to build a model of his car. jb
rmvw guy Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 They look showroom fresh! They make a nice pair with the top up and down. I always loved those cars, thanks for bringing them out. Happy '14
realgone58 Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Those were cool little kits. These two are perhaps the best built examples I've ever seen.
jsc Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Beautiful work! Can you explain how you did the trim? Thanks
Davewilly Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Those are very cool! I always like seeing a 1:1 on the road.
