I've had this kit for probably 25 years. Started it last year and finished it yesterday. I chose to build a base Volare Road Runner, without the flares, spoiler, louvers and stripes. All that was an option package on the Road Runner. As most of you are familiar with my builds, I don't tend to go for all the stick on gee gaws. It's sprayed with straight enamel factory Spitfire Orange, T-tops are gloss black, interior is black. I wasn't going to wire it, but my son told me I should, so I listened to him. Stock 318, dist/wires from Fatkidd Hobby Products, and I stuck in a fuel line and brake line from the master cyl. For a very basic kit, the outcome wasn't too bad. Wheels and tires are kit issue Mopar Rallye's on Goodyear G-70 15's and I used white lines from vinylnationdecals.com This one will look cool in my case next to my '78 Volare Premiere. Now I have to find the hard to get '80 Volare kit (with the square headlights). Wish they'd re-issue these. I could see a resin Dodge Aspen conversion too. Enough rambling on, here's the pics.

Harry, it's blackwashed. I think the angle I took the pic at doesn't show it well. Here's a couple more pics. Still can see it good though. And, yes, still looking for suitable mirrors.

While not up to "modern engineered" standards the Volare kits aren't as horrible as many think- have one to finish when I get back home in a couple weeks

Alan's and Chris' 318 / 360 engines look great !

I have long balked at the MPC 318-340-360 engines' unscalled appearance and plain , lacklustre details --- when they're built in purely box-stock form . Alan's and Chris' small blocks are real inspirations ! Heck , even just adding ignition wires ( properly spaced , as both engines featured showcase) improves this otherwise plain engine's visual appeal !

Alan - Great work on your '77 ! "Spitfire Orange" (a factory colour in '77) looks quite like Tor-Red (colloq. , Hemi Orange) !

Isn't it funny how Chrysler was still employing bias-ply tyres on their cars as late as 1977 ! Radial tyres were still an option on the F-bodies (excepting , perhaps , the Police Package cars , with their "GR70-15" size) .

Chris - I can't wait to see your 'Runner completed ! Good use of that hideous "custom" vinyl top !

Thanks man! Chris's motor is built nicer than mine IMO. He's got a little extra detail going on, and more correct weathering on the exhaust manifolds. If you look at mine, my air cleaner is too far forward (because of my dist), and my dist is too far to the left. I did remember to add a radiator hose since I took the pic however. They actually do build into a convincing smog era small block. I'm still amazed that Chris and I chose the same color, (as on my above pictured build) and we did the same thing with the vinyl tops, without knowing it!

I love Volares. I owned a real '77 Volare new. It too was Spitfire Orange. The difference? Mine was a Volare Custom, which had the bright metal panel between the tail lights. It also had a black vinyl roof over the forward half, and a beautiful black vinyl bench seat interior with silver vinyl inserts were one sat. A very nice looking car, but a piece of junk right from the start. Still I like Volares. I still have a Spitfire Orange promo.

I'd love to see more Volare model builds. I maybe sick. But, I like them.

If you're sick Scott, I've got the same illness! I love the Mopar F bodies.
