kennb Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I digress and take a break from the long term projects that I have going on. Everything I have going is long term and nothing that will be finished this year so I wanted to get something finished and this seems to be a project that I can get done in a short time period. This is 1/16th scale plans to follow. They are very sketchy but It gets me the size and component locations so I can get it built. This is intended to be a fast build. Down and literally dirty. It is entirely scratch build from drawings I made. The inspiration is from Rat Rods magazine issue 19. The car I am taking this after is called "Li'l Monster". I will be making the AA body and custom built square tube chassis. The engine will be a Hemi From the 1973 Petty #43 car with a Mustang rear end. Other parts will be scratch built or begged parts. I hope to find some truck tires for the back and stock tires for the front but not sure if I can. I plan to have this done this week. paint and all. Depends on if I can get the tires I need in time. I may take the time to cast the motor but I am not sure.
midengineaddict Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I love it, everything look good aroud that truck, very cool project.
kennb Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) I am into the build 2 days now although today I didn't do much. (I have about 12 hours into this so far, for those keeping track). Front and rear suspension, fully sprung works nice. the stance is close to final. The interior needs to be started and the front grill needs to be done.......might have it ready for primer Friday if I can get some time in on it. lots of details to do too.there is about 100 photos at the link http://s1282.photobucket.com/user/shutter-bug3/library/1929%20AA%20rat%20rod?sort=3&page=1 Edited January 8, 2014 by kennb

kennb Posted January 14, 2014 Author Posted January 14, 2014 getting real close to detailed out...The custom deals are on the way, that is about the last thing to do.
LaughingIndian Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) Great rat rod. The rust is just right. My first car was a '29 Model A pickup primered rust bucket (they didn't call em rat rods back in the '70s as i remember) and your pics look like my old 1:1! ... sans Hemi and gumballs of course. kennb Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 (edited) Lets take the 29 into the photo studio and do a few glamor shots....................there are over 200 additional photos here.... .http://s1282.photobucket.com/user/shutter-bug3/library/1929%20AA%20rat%20rod?sort=3&page=1 A few notes to look for...the rear hub covers and the horn button at 1932 25th scale hub caps...the front lights are from ball point pens with screw in lenses. The wiring and brake lines are telephone wire..The red rear light is the red lid from a food container. The glass is from a donut box. Edited January 16, 2014 by kennb
midengineaddict Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 It's so cool to do a rat rod in a week, I'm sure you had a lot of fun . I have laughed a lot when I saw your ball point pens front lights. This truck got attitude for sure. Nice work.
