Belair2k Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I heard that there was an issue of a model car mag that had plans for building a ramp to add behind a cab. Anybody have any info on this?
disabled modeler Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 There was a kit out with the wedge ramp style bed for a pickup.
pharoah Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) AMT just reissued the Ford LN 8000 race car hauler. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-1-25-Ford-LN-8000-Race-Car-Hauler-AMT758-06-/200989941417?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item2ecbef1ea9 Ramps are easy to build, but you have to extend the chassis. Here's one I built a few years back. It was made from a spare cab I had. The 'chassis' is flat styrene. No engine either. Is this what you're looking for? Edited January 15, 2014 by pharoah
Bgrgbldr Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 There was an article in Car Modeler Magazine back in May of 94 about building ramp trucks. I have the article scanned. If you want a copy send me an email. Gary
Bgrgbldr Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I should have posted these years ago and then put it away. I need to finish it. This is my own design. Enjoy
disabled modeler Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Wow, that looks great ! Ill second that..WOW!
pharoah Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 I know it's a silly question,but why didn't you finish that Bgrgbldr?
Bgrgbldr Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 To be honest I do not remember why I stopped working on this. Most likely I got busy with work and family and put it away and forgot about it. I keep my projects in plastic shoe boxes stored in cabinets to keep my room neat. Sometimes I just loose interest because I found a new interest. Could be I made as mistake and did not feel like fixing it. Sometimes I will star a project because some asks me how to do it and a build it to show them how, I have lots of those. I probably have 30 or more projects in various stages of construction. I like starting new projects but I never seem to finish any. After all once you finish there is nothing to do but look at it.
378DRIVER Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 This was one I did in 1/64 scale, The ramp body and sleeper were built out of sheet plastic. Going for somthing between this and this
heepey Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Here is the Model King ramp bed on a late model Chevy that I bashed together a while back using a resin cab and the bunk off an AMT Kenworth. . I filled in the tandem wheel wells for a single rear axle.
Casey Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Motor City Resin Casters makes a ramp bed, too, if you're not up for all the scratchbuilding:
stang_crazy Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Motor City Resin Casters makes a ramp bed, too, if you're not up for all the scratchbuilding: is this for a pick up truck chassis or semi chassis with single axle?
jhb173 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 Here is a hauler I bashed and a scatch-built trailer.
Chuck Most Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 is this for a pick up truck chassis or semi chassis with single axle? It would probably work best on a light truck chassis- that's how Jeff shows it set up on his site. Ramp_Truck_Link.
mikemodeler Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I will have to check but I remember that being in an old issue of Scale Auto or Car Modeler magazine and I think I made copies of the article. If I do have the copies, I would be happy to send them out to others.
