Quick GMC Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I apologize for the poor photos. i am watching our newborn and I can't have too many lights on or I will get yelled at. I have had this kit for a couple of years and I have been waiting until my skills get better to build it. I want it to be perfect. I recent found a nice PE set for it from Hobby Design, so I had to buy it. The Fujimi kit comes with the standard kit, plus some white metal pieces and some photo etch pieces. It also comes with some really nice brass turned snap fittings and turned aluminum headlight bezels. The kit also has an open trunk I did not include the sprues because I already tore into this thing. All of this comes in the kit- Roll, bar, headlight bezels, windshield frame, steering wheel, pedals, gas cap, door and trunk handles, exhaust pipes and a few other goodies. The fittings for the front bumper The snaps This is the PE that comes in the kit
Roncla Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 (edited) I just saw that they had bought that P/E set to market. It should build up in to a nice model. Hobby Design are still marketing a lot of new product but I can't find their web site any more and their Facebook page hasn't been updated in 6 months. Edited February 1, 2014 by Roncla
jaydar Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 First, and most importantly, congratulations to you and your wife on the new baby! What is in the Hobby Design set? I have the Revell kit and wonder how much might be useful. Congrats dad. Joe.
Quick GMC Posted February 1, 2014 Author Posted February 1, 2014 Sorry guys, i was typing this at 1 in the morning and the baby started screaming for food. I went out and fed him , then passed out on the couch. Here is the PE set from Hobby Design Some really nice fittings for the radiator as well, and seat belt material

As much as I like to buy locally, Media Mix Hobby in Singapore always has everything in stock and it's quick shipping. I also got a killer PE set for the tamiya 993 GT2

I am actually looking to replace the Fujimi engine with another because of the lack of detail, but I need some new Webers as well
VRM Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I thought that the Revell-Monogram kit was a much better starting point. There are certainly a few good parts from the Fujimi kit, but most of it was a disaster IIRC. JMHO. Steve
bigphoto Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Other than the engine IMHO the Fujimi kit is a fairly good representation of the CSX 4000 series and the Revell kit is better for the originals from the sixties. Just my 2 pennies
Quick GMC Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Yeah, the Fujimi engine is pretty sad. It's a crisp mold, but no detail. No cylinder head detail as far as bolts or any indication of spark plugs. The heads and the oil pan don't even have room to put detail hardware. I think I will buy the Revell kit to steal the engine. On the other hand, I have the Historic Racing Miniatures engine kit for the GT40. The Webers in there are amazing, but too small. The Webers in the Grand Sport kit are too big. i'm kind of in a pickle, I'm pretty much set on doing the 427 with Webers.
Quick GMC Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 This is looking pretty tasty right now http://www.flickr.com/photos/angad84/5963270978/
afx Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Can we get a pic of the wheels, pretty please? Casey, Here are the wheels & tires. Cameron, Sorry don't mean to step on your thread but with a new baby thought you might want a little help. Edited August 31, 2015 by afx
Casey Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Casey, Here are the wheels & tires. Cameron, Sorry don't mean to step on your thread but with a new baby thought you might want a little help. Thanks, JC. The rear wheels are slightly deeper, correct? They look a bit better than the Monogram Revell 1/24 versions, so good to know what they look like.
Quick GMC Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 No problem JC the wheels are very crisply molded. Almost identical to the gT40 wheels (which are Fujimi? I think)
afx Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks, JC. The rear wheels are slightly deeper, correct? They look a bit better than the Monogram Revell 1/24 versions, so good to know what they look like. Casey, Yes the wheels & tires are the same width the rears just have more offset
Cato Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 (edited) Cameron, If accuracy is paramount to you, be careful of the reference sources you select. The photo you provide is most likely a Superformance MK III replica, not a CSX 4000 as labeled. The forward-on-top radiator, sharp nose lip and a non-original hood scoop suggest that. Many Cobras posted on line are replicas and the posters don't know that. The magnesium Halibrands shown by JC are nicely done. However their 1:1 dimensions are 7 1/2" F, 9.5" R. They have different backspacing. Aluminum replicas made by Trigo and Vintage Wheel are dimensionally correct, but you can spot them because the valve stem is in the web, not the rim face as Halibrands. Real Halibrands and Trigo replicas are 6 pin drive, Vintage's are 5 pin with bolt on adapter. GT-40 wheels are noticeably different than Cobra II's in the web area. Edited February 3, 2014 by Cato
Quick GMC Posted February 2, 2014 Author Posted February 2, 2014 Thanks for that info. I'm not worried too much about accuracy. I'm going for a nice detailed build to show off all the nice parts.
