Gregg Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 This has been one of those long lost TO-DO projects that has been put on hold for so long. After Pete gave me some of his gorgeous red/burgundy paint, I had ScaleFinishes match some for me. Shot it a little while ago, and then laid down some clear that Pete also brought over (do we see a theme here?) So, it's getting there. The wheels/rims are suggested by Gilbert in our club, they are from 1/18 scale JADA die cast/import models, from eBay. Thanks, guys!
futurattraction Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 That's beautiful, Gregg... The paint and colors look really sharp together.
Casey Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah, that paint is not too shabby. Did you chop the windshield frame/windshield, or is is just resting in place like that? I ask because I have a slightly shorter rear roof piece which was a test shot, so it might work if you want to lower the roof:
Gregg Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 The kit came with the two options: tall/regular and chopped, with open chopped windshield frame, and the closed tall/regular one. I love the chopped one. I will try and find that scale real glass for the windshield. I forgot who did that article on real glass. Geary maybe? I'm probably also going to remove the front bumpers/supports run small rear nerf bars in the rear I wanted to run Bob Dudek's aluminum front end, but the Mustang/kit IFS looks fine, maybe some RB Motion shocks, or see what Jim at MicroNitro has. still in planning stages. I wanted to send a bunch of stuff out to be chromed for it, maybe if get time I will
Harry P. Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 maybe some RB Motion shocks... You don't need shocks. There's no clearance for any suspension movement if you use those wheels...
jaymcminn Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Nice to see one of these rare birds being built up. I've always thought I'd like to do one of these using the Minicraft flathead and steelies. Looking really good!
1930fordpickup Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Looks good so far. Great color combo. I am with Jason on the flat head.
Danno Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Gregg, It's a great look! You're riding on top of the current hot rod wave! Very reminiscent of the new 2014 AMBR winner ~ Wes Rydell's 1937 Chevy phaeton.
Gregg Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 I was thinking of black fenders, but the silver base coat came out so nice, Pete said to just clear coat it and see how it looks. Don't think I'll be doing the flat head, not with those big n little rims I have that old five window body that may be good with the flattie. I'm going to remove front bumper, yes? Interior is just so plain. There was not much detail to it from kit dash is nice, just nothing else inside. Wanted to get a Model Car Garage photoetch grille made for it, but that didn't happen. For side trim, going to wait until car is done, then tape up the side, and do my Alcade trick to it.
Danno Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 (edited) Yes, it looks good with the silver fenders. But you might think about re-coloring the top to a silver color complimentary to the fenders, and then do the interior in medium slate gray. Just thoughts. Edited February 5, 2014 by Danno
monkeyclaw Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Gregg; Nice to see you getting some model work done! The car looks great...................Matt
slusher Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Great looking build. Great color choices...
