Harry P. Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Don't know how many of you know about this magazine, but a subscription is money well spent. Not only for the amazing articles, but for all of the great photographic reference material. Hemmings "Muscle Machines" is another title you need to subscribe to. Both are, in my opinion, the best magazines available on their respective subjects. If you get Model Cars, Classic Car, and Muscle Machines, you can consider yourself well read.
Ramfins59 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I'll pick up Hemmings Classic Car Mag. when I go to B&N now and then, along with a few other car mags, but I haven't been there in a while. Hemmings has dynamite detail pictures for great reference material.
peter31a Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 I have to agree. Love Hemmings Classic Cars magazine. Great reference mag on multiple classic car topics. I subscribed when the Great Race came through a couple of years ago and I keep renewing as I enjoy it so much.
martinfan5 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I do not get any of them, I will consider myself not very well read
Greg Myers Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 and along with that, if one has an abundant library, one may find most magazines redundant. I agree the magazines mentioned are good but the same money spent on a book on a subject you are truly interested in would be a more wiser expenditure. Just a short list from my library. http://www.amazon.com/TOP-ELEVEN-COBRA-BOOKS/lm/R3HOPU136F8IRG/ref=cm_lm_byauthor_title_full
Tom Geiger Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I agree! I really enjoy the magazine. The last few issues had features on some neat cars like a 1977 Mercury Monarch coupe, the restoration of a '64 Dart convertible and a feature on a 1974 Road Runner with only 7200 miles on it. The issue I just got had a feature on NYPD cars and Studebaker taxis and police cars. That same issue had an article on a recreation of a NYPD 1971 Plymouth Fury I by a retired cop. The December issue had a 1962 Chrysler New Yorker T&C hardtop wagon on the cover, and articles on the sole surviving 1911 Cole, a 1949 Dodge coupe and 1936 Pontiac sedan. I also just read an article about early International Scouts and GMC Syclone pickups so they cover just about everything a well rounded unbiased car guy could imagine. I like it when they have unusual feature cars that you hadn't thought about in a long while. Just a nice magazine! Since I subscribed to Classic Car, Hemmings sent me near give away offers ($10 range) for a years subscription to their other magazines. So who could resist Muscle Machines and Sports & Exotics. The subjects are a bit further away from my own interests but great reads as well. I learn more with every issue.

Agreed . . . on all accounts!
Rob Hall Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It's a good magazine...I'm a long time subscriber of Hemmings Classic Cars and Hemmings Muscle Machines. Great reference material and photos. My favorite old-car mag is probably Collectible Automobile...been a subscriber for 20+ years.
Matt Bacon Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) Even I get it, and I'm in the UK (actually, I don't know how they do it -- 12 months subscription with international postage still works out at less than £2 an issue, when Octane is nearly £5). It is great, and the articles are fun reads as well as having great pictures. The last issue conveniently had a Toyota 2000GT in, just as I was building one... bestest, M. edit: Actually, it's Hemmings Sports & Exotics that I get, and one's just arrived! Octane is a great magazine...kind of hard to find and expensive here in the states, though. I also like Classic and Sportscar.

Matt, think about a subscription to Hemmings Classic Cars, too. You won't be disappointed.
espo Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Hemmings has several magazine covering cars and trucks also. They are all the best, and must for research.
peekay Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Great mag and, like Matt says, amazing value if you subscribe from Europe. I like that they feature originals as well as restorations and that they don't mind a car having four doors. Edited March 27, 2014 by peekay
