drifterdon Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 So I just picked up the re-release of AMT's 68 Roadrunner kit and was blown away by the combination redline/Goodyear Polyglass GT tires that are in the kit. I checked the Round 2 website and didn't see anything announcing a new tire pack that had these tires but would buy a dozen sets if they did. Does anyone know if they plan to release these as a tire pack or if they are in any other kits? May have to buy a couple extra Roadrunners just for these tires... Need some for my Goats. Don
Casey Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I checked the Round 2 website and didn't see anything announcing a new tire pack that had these tires They have been available for a few months, and are listed on Round2's website: http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/goodyear-polyglas
Rob Hall Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) They have been available for a few months, and are listed on Round2's website: http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/goodyear-polyglas Those are different..the Parts Pack tires don't have redlines on one side, both sides have RWL... drifterdon Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I have those tires and they have Goodyear Polyglas GT on both sides. Looking for a good set of redlines that will work for 60's musclecars. I've done the redline decal thing with limited success. The tires that come with the Roadrunner kit are some of the best I've seen in my very limited model car experience. Don't suppose Round 2 would listen to us if we asked them to offer these in a parts pack...
Rob Hall Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Given the number of tire parts packs they have done so far, it wouldn't surprise me if they don't offer the redline versions at some point in the future.. I've used resin redline tires before, but the problem with them is they always seem to be the skinny early-mid '60s variety--too narrow for a late '60s muscle car application.
drifterdon Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Thanks Rob. Fingers crossed Round 2 offers these up as a parts pack.
berr13 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Has anyone seen these red line tires in the F60 size, in another kit? The RR has only the L60s, and I'd really like to have these tires in the smaller size. They look sooooo good!
Casey Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Those are different..the Parts Pack tires don't have redlines on one side, both sides have RWL... Oops, missed the redline part completely.
Stuntman Mike Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Can anyone post a pic of these redline tires on a model, please?
unclescott58 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Red lines!? I love red line tires. Have not seen a good set of 1/25th scale tires in a kit since the late 1960's. I too hope these become available in a separate parts pack to the near future. I've had very poor luck with the red line decals in the Revell kits. And I'm planning on building another '67 Revell Corvette in the near future. I need a set of red lines for that and several other car of that era. Oh, and Rob Hall, real red lines in the late 60's were always very narrow. Much narrower that white walls found on cars of the time. Now I haven't seen the resin tires you have. But they maybe correct. Scott
Mike Kucaba Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 The first real red line tires I ever saw were Firestone Wide ovals. They were some what wider than typical tires of the time. Probably '66-'67.
unclescott58 Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I'm sorry I should clarify what I meant. Yes the tires themselves were wide oval. The actual red lines. Not the tires. But the red lines themselves were very narrow. I hope this clears things up. Scott
cruz Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Best red lines in the world in scale? Replicas and Miniatures Co. Of Maryland has them, can't go wrong there!
High octane Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Modelhaus offers a really nice set (part # 220) of redline tires.
