crazyrichard
hey all , starting on this revell ford bronco .. Now i got this kit in a shoebox with the build description , it supposed to be a kit of the bronco with a trailer and powerboat , i only have the bronco and not the trailer and boat .. the plastic has become yellow , like from age ?? i dont know the kit is from 1991 going from the all yellowed build description. The kit is fairly simple to put together but not real bad in detail what i got in a shoebox (got this from a guy who stopped with building due to health issues ) the grille is cool its already open .. the headlights suck they are one piece and no glass in the kit for those .. so maybe open them up and make reflectors and cust glass to put in would be cool the body , i hate the shape of the wheel wells , now i cant really find good pictures of this kit or the boxart , i did find one other kit and those flares supposed to resemble / be rubber ? anyway my plan is to cut open the wheel wells and get some cool wheels on it and make it a bit rough looking .. i ven think changing the body like where the hardtop on the bed sits and make that whole with the body so its one piece could be cool ..not sure yet the roof window will be closed up i dont like that really .. overal it needs to becomea bit smoother overall , bit custom the tails are also a cast so i will make some taillight myself .. Jantrix
I have seen good things done with molded headlights tail lights. BMF and testors metallic red will work for the rear. And for the front, I've seen a mix of acrylic white and Future do well on headlights after several coats.
crazyrichard
yes i could try something .. but there is a chance this build will turn into a full custom thing so i might .... thnx for now cut out the wells , bottom doorline and front bumper pan what came off . looks a bit like a bodykit haha cut out the inner wells at the front .. i want to do some reaserch and maybe do it minitruck style .... Austin T
There ya go man. Slam it down in the weeds. It would be the perfect opportunity to learn how to build a bag set up in scale.
crazyrichard
yuup thats the direction i'm going , already started the ..... raised with big tyres is cool but getting the right tyres .. hmm hard i have nothing .. so went for the slammed minitruck style .... flattened the sides ,took forever the styrene is soo tough .. used my files and then sanded .. reshaped the hinge bloks above and under the taillights where the spare tyre frame should go on you can see how yellow the styrene has become .. nice as a sanding guideline next job is flattening the roof window surround and closing the roof
Baugher Garage
Long road ahead, but it's going to be really cool! Enjoy!
slusher
Another killer project Richard. Why is the plastic yellow...exposed to heat???
mrm
This is really cool. Honestly, I didn't even know this kit existed. I love mini trucks and would love to see what comes of it.
crazyrichard
thnx guys !!! and well you cant really find a lot info on this kit .. like said i got it in a shoebox without the boat and trailer .. on the description it says its from revell germany .. found the boxart online btw !! and somebody in holland found this for me > The final kit released in this tooling family was issued in 1990 as part of the combo kit Yamaha Formula One Team with a trailer and racing boat. This issue marks the biggest departure from the original tooling as the mounting holes for the roof light bar and the CB antennae are covered over, the gas can carrier is omitted (the extra hinges on the body remain), and the wheels and tire are new for this issue (five-hole swirl mags and Goodyear GT Radials shared with the Monogram eighth generation F-series kits). Molded in white and chrome with clear "glass" and kit number 7241. but well not really something of real interest because i will use the "kit" as i please hahahaha anyway its a bit smoother again shaved the doorhandles (need bondo) shaved the surround of the skylight in the roof , i will keep that open and place the glass in the open position , nice extra detail when done shaved the rain gutters above the doors and redid the panellines ... the holes in the door need to be closed those where for mirror brackets
Zarana-X
Nice work so far. I had the yellow & black racing version of this tooling. I think it might have been the first issue.
Fabrux
The description your friend found is from my kit history article. This kit can be pretty crude in some ways but in others it builds up pretty good. Only one set of the hinges on the body is needed for the spare tire carrier; the other is for a Jerry can carrier that was not included in this issue. crazyrichard
lol thats cool well a dutch guy found your description online i could make the green one i posted i have that grille .. but i wont i dont like the look of that old ford grille , everything is boxy on the body and imo the grille is too round sanded off the taillights and reshaped it so the bodyline just runs trhough from sides into the tailgate ...i will make custm tails below the tailgate closed up the mirror holes .... i could make it a slammed woody ? with real wood on the side ! bobthehobbyguy
As always looking good. You've done some nice mods so far. Are you planning to make the wheel wells smaller?
crazyrichard
thnx and not sure yet .. when i held some wheels on the back of teh wells it kind of looked cool like the well is swooping away .. so for now i will leave them alone until i really know what wheel and how and .... but maybe i will yes

crazyrichard
thnx dan and i understand .. but well its too late the styrene is cut and the idea is starting to ..and well ... it will be kind of different from your average lifted model .. but i understand what you mean i cut out the whole front and side bars ....the whole engine bay will become clean / smooth and show put 2 pieces or round styrene in the stock grille fits perfect so its all square and straight .. now the front splash pan earea needs to be exactly as low as the sides and rear so when its dropped its the same hight all around ... i will change more style wise but this is just the basic set up hood fits nice ... tooltas
put a full tube grill in there;
crazyrichard
yes tod that could be cool indeed .. for no i dechromed the stock grille made a plate on the grille that sits level between the round bar and grille .. that will be further developed later met de motorkap , lijkt rechts niet zo aan te sluiten maar dat valt reuze mee , als de grlle af is en op zijn plek zit .. word alles geschuurd zodat alles perfect past en aansluit hood on need to tweak that a tiny bit .. slusher
Richard, I always thought that was a great looking grill when ford came out with that style, it was very popular. Just wondering if you plan on leaving the letters on the hood.
Austin T
Here's an idea for the grille if you want to go a little more custom. A full billet grille with hidden headlights. It will also help with the molded in lights. I think it would look good in a nice two-tone gunmetal/gloss black.
crazyrichard
yes that could be an idea thats what i ment .. on the other hand i want it to remain a bronco .. so i still want to try and mod those headlights a bit ..and the lettering not sure .. can deside .. i think i will shave them because the rest is all smooth now
crazyrichard
i have been busy this morring filled the lights with styrene dechromed the front bumper (kit bumper) and glued it under the front then roughly filed the sides in shape did a first coat of bondo on the lights , when thats flat i can see what i can come up with funny normal way is to fit the splash pan and then put the bumper on that , i did that the other way round and fitted the front bumper and put the splash pan on that .. right shape and smooth .. filled the bumperholes all very rough plastic welded the sides to have material to file in shape i dont have the right wheels but these discs are perfect in size so i can use them for mock up .. 27 mm discs so wheel and tyre should be around 26 mm total diameter now i have to see what i can come up with for headlights and put more shape in the rest .. i have a blanc canvas now

Psychographic
It's coming along nice Richard. You picked a pretty unusual truck to slam, but that's what is so great about it. I want to see what you come up with for the headlights. You should check out the wheel sets Shucky has, as not only are they really quality pieces, he's got some nice modern designs that would fit right in on this build.
