JollySipper Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 What is the name of the website that you can upload programs from your old computer to and download those programs to a new computer? I was reading about it but I can't remember the site.... Also my pics, drawings, and such.... would I have to use that site or can those be put on a disc and saved? Thanks, guys.....
Foxer Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 I had one that did move programs but lost touch about it. Only one I know now is PC Mover. This is a link to a review of it. These work because they transfer registry info and are very handy. Most of my new computers came from the fact my hard disk crashed so this type of software wouldn't help. Your own data you mention should be backed up anyway. I'd suggest getting a portable hard drive. They are fairly cheap for the security the offed for your data.
MrObsessive Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 You can also get a nice, huge GB thumb drive to move things as well. Sometimes when you try to move programs from one PC to another, the programs may not want to cooperate. There are also some programs where you'll need the product key (usually on the disc or sent in an email), in order to reinstall the program. Better to have the original disc and reload it to be on the safe side. If it was downloaded from the 'net (and you saved the setup file), I would simply load the file onto the thumb drive, and then reinstall the file/program on the new PC. If you don't have the setup file, you can always go back to that site and get the .exe file. You'll also at least have the latest and greatest update from them. Hope all this helps!
