Volvoman Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Hi folks, this is my first post this year as I have been working on this for the past few months. I started out with the Revell Peterbilt snap kit and built it pretty much out of the box using Tamiya Gloss black on the body. I used the United Trucking decals on the doors along with some Harley Davidson decals as well as the great stars and stripes decal for the rear cab wall. Some airlines and a driver from the Italeri accessories were fitted and the rig was complete. The trailer is the old AMT Fruehauf 40' box trailer that was built completely out of the box with the exception of the Harley Davidson decals and a few extra decals on the rear doors. The paintwork reacted slightly on the trailer but I guessed that trailers weren't exactly well looked after anyway so it was cleaned up without being too fussy about it and that was also complete. I managed to pick up the Vegas sign whilst on holiday there a couple of years ago guessing that it would come in useful for a diorama of some sort. It is made of plaster and was designed to be hung up with some decorative ribbon and painted with some little tubs of poster paint but after sealing it with some watered down PVA glue, it was sprayed with some Tamiya Gloss white and detail painted with Tamiya colours and 2 lengths of aluminium box tubing fixed to it completed this. A good friend of mine made up the base which consisted of some balsa wood for the central median painted in deck tan and some cork scatter laid on top with a small square of grass matting in front of the sign. Some internet surfing showed me a picture of the Vegas sign with some card suits laid on the grass so these were made from thin plasticard and coloured in using red and black sharpies. The actual stuff used for the tarmac is self adhesive non slip grip tape as used on skateboards, a good tip for anyone wanting to replicate a road surface for a diorama. So there you have it, my first ever complete truck and trailer combo on a diorama, I just need a couple of figures now to finish it off properly!! Thanks very much for looking and as usual, all thoughts and comments are very much welcome. .
Volvoman Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Apologies for the lack of photos,my photobucket is not playing ball. When I click paste,no pic is appearing as it used to. As I am not really a computer geek, any help will be greatly received. Thanks!!
Jim B Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 It's not Photobucket that's not playing nicely, it's probably the Forum. If you're using IE, make sure you have the Forum in "Compatibility View". Otherwise try either Google or FireFox.
Volvoman Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Many thanks for the info Jim B, I needed to update my Compatibility View for the forum as its been a while since I was last on here. Thanks again!!
