You can find two wider ones for the rear in the Monogram Bad Man 55 Chevy and the AMT 63 Impala has a set of more regular width.

Are you sure about the Badman kit? I bought a reissue kit last year and it came with only one of the daiseys. The kit comes with two different rear wheels.

Yes I know that, but the first Badman kit I built back in the mid 70's had two Daisy Mags...I still have them.
But they are not that difficult to find on the aftermarket in resin.

Daniel: The TLB movie isn't that good at all due to the reasons you gave, it's just the car that's cool...very cool.
They had planned to end the movie with a crash, but they decided to leave it to the viewer to figure it out by themselves and did the ending with the film stopping in the projector gate and got burned through by the hot bulb instead...that's why the stunt car never were used in the TLB movie.

The cool part of the movie were the stars. Besides the car there was Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys and singer James Taylor. I have never seen the movie in it's entirety, only short clips on utube. These guys were so young at the time! Maybe the only movie ever made together? And maybe not such a great movie but, worth the time to watch for any car guy I think. How is he progress on this model going? More pictures please!

Update!

Not much has been happening with the model lately. I've been taking my time since I'm a beginner.

Here is the Tunnel Ram Intake for it's Big Block! All painted up with carburetors glued on.

American Racing S200 "Daisy" Mags painted up. They didn't come with the part to attach it to the axle so we had to modify it a little. Only the rears are completed.

The hood scoop I ordered for it. I think it should be taller so it'll be modified later in the build.

Now for the Story of my Big Block Problems. I initially ordered a Big Block Chevy engine off of eBay at just under $10 and was so ecstatic that I could find one this cheap (they usually run about $20). So, I waited a couple days until it arrived and upon further inspection it didn't have a Muncie Transmission, which is in the movie car. When I contacted the seller about the engine and what kit it came from, he said it was from a Pro Stock Firebird model. When i looked the model up it said that the engine was 500 cubic inches and had 1000 horsepower. Needless to say, I wasn't putting that engine in this replica. Then a couple of days later I spotted another $10 big block Chevy and to my surprise, it was PERFECT! In the picture below, the Tunnel Ram is actually on backwards, WHOOPS!

The Engine is actually done right now and, yes, the Tunnel Ram is turned around. I just have to take pictures.

Great job on a cool project!!

Big fan of both movies and actually I am working on a 1/18 diecast TLB 55 myself. I have 2 of the 1/18 AG cars too but not doing anything with them at this point.

Theres a TLB and AG Facebook page with great pics and info about the 55's. O

If you want to see a replica of one of the most accurate and detailed TLB 55 Chevy, check out Chuck Weske and his 1/18 diecast version of the car.

Just a few pics to maybe help with your project

Richard Ruth who built the TLB cars got 3 brand new crate engines from GM for the movie cars, two 454's and one 427 and it wasn't just any 427...it was a L88...that's why it was faster.

I forgot to mention that the 427 car was indeed an L88. IIRC, the 454s that were used also had the open chamber aluminum heads, possibly LS6 spec? I guess the reason I said "supposedly faster" has more to with wanting to see both cars on the strip, head to head race, to prove one way or the other. I do know that the AG '55 does have an Olds rear with 4.88s in it, not sure if both cars are the same in that aspect.

As far as I know the only difference was the 427 L88 and 454, otherwise they were built the same...at first...they did the changes to the "camera car" engine later during the movie production.

You are going to want to get or make some fender well headers..

While that would be really cool, I think I'll stick with the ones I have on it for now. Besides, the model won't be a tilt nose because I don't have anything that will cut that small. I don't think I've got the skill/expertise for that kind of mod, just yet, anyways.

If you're going to go with the hood only opening, you might look at the A/G movie cars. while I'm not 100% sure on this I think that one of the changes from A/G too TLB was the tilt front end and the A/G car didn't have a hood scoop either. The engine and transmission look great.
