Chuck Most Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Like the '75 I just posted, this one still needs some work, but it'll look good on the shelf for now. Basics- converted grille to '78 Custom with round headlights, dechromed the cab, added parts from a Monogram Ford Dually (mirrors, wheels, etc.), a Spaulding service body, and an SMBC 351 Cleveland- I still need to do some underhood work and decide what exhaust I want to use, but overall I'm pretty pleased at how it came out.
mikemodeler Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Very nice Chuck! Love the cab marker lights, clean and subtle!
Maindrian Pace Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Excellent! Unusual color for a service truck too. -MJS
TooOld Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Now that's a really sharp looking truck ! Great color and an excellent conversion to a service truck ! Those SMBC Cleveland engines are nice , I hope you post some photos when it's done .
Chuck Most Posted May 16, 2014 Author Posted May 16, 2014 Thanks guys! where did you get the bed at Spaulding Trading and Shipping, though Sharon at STS told me the mold is getting worn out and when it finally gives out, that'll be the end for it. Last I knew, though, Hendrix Manufacturing cast a bed nearly identical to this one.
Robberbaron Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Looks great! The white bumper/mirrors/wheels really help create the look, along with converting to the round headlights. Really gives it that barebones "all business" look.
Brett Barrow Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 (edited) Very cool! My granddad used to have a dump truck that was exactly like that (except for the service v. dump body, of course), color, mirrors, wheels, everything. Edited May 17, 2014 by Brett Barrow
