Greg Myers Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Just look at all those great tools, the air powered drill the little air blower thingie, can't get much more light than that. How about the little swing out trays? Now , are you comfy? Gotta admit an adjustable chair like that's gotta improve yer buildin' skills.
hellonwheelz3 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Wow. I never thought of that but it's a GREAT idea. Nice one!
Miatatom Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Sorry but that chair doesn't provide me with anything I can enjoy. Clench factor = 10!
Greg Wann Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 YUP!! SURE HAVE. They stick resin and silicone materials in your mouth too to make impressions and temporary crowns. Resin and silicone is a really big world.
jbwelda Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 uh no, can't say that I have, not likely to start anytime soon either. jb
slusher Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Not a thought of a model in the dentist chair, worried about the pain. My dentist has bad breath always go figure
charlie8575 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The laughing gas and knock-out stuff makes you see/think all sorts of weird things.... I have tried to buy the picks/scribers from my dentist, though. No luck. Charlie Larkin
grayghost Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Boy you could make the styrene fly with that ziz wheel.
peter31a Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I'm usually thinking "If this dental hygienist jams that metal pointy probe in my gums one more time I'm gonna kill her…" Models are no where near my mind….. But you have a valid point in that they have some cool tools.
Helix Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Absolutely Greg, on my visits I ask for their spare tools!
johnbuzzed Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Never not ever not once in my life at all... but the tools are cool.
rmvw guy Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Now you have me looking forward to my next visit. No, not really.
GLMFAA1 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 Not the chair, but I got springs, wires and elastics from my ortho, Now there is a place to cast in the lab greg
dptydawg Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 My former dentist (now retired) used to save picks and drill bits for me, His replacement is not nearly as into models as the old one. Carl
chunkypeanutbutter Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 There was actually a 1950s dentist chair in the classifieds I saw here a while ago... Didn't like the thought of being stabbed in the gums, however.
LDO Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 I did think of using dentist's chair as an astronomical binocular or telescope mount. Imagine having it fixed in place on a chair that reclines and automatically follows what you're observing. (That feature would have to be built, but it is entirely possible)
Fabrux Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 My wife is a dental assistant; I get fun tools from her office.
Greg Myers Posted June 20, 2014 Author Posted June 20, 2014 You know you;re growing up when you worry more about how much it will cost than how much it will hurt.
ToyLvr Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I'm usually thinking "If this dental hygienist jams that metal pointy probe in my gums one more time I'm gonna kill her…" Models are no where near my mind….. But you have a valid point in that they have some cool tools. A *pretty* dental hygienist can have you thinking about all sorts of things.....not necessarily building models. ;-)

Joe Handley Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I never thought of this, only problem for me is that on days like today, I might fall asleep with an X-Acto knife in my hand and a model in my lap
goldfinger Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 I am always looking around to see what could be adapted to my workbench...so far I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to get any of their tools.....but I haven't given up !
