fitforbattle Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Finally got some primer on this one. Quick build hopefully, multi-media curbside with some pe parts. Edited June 27, 2014 by fitforbattle
fitforbattle Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 (edited) Shot the body, orange peel on some spots but should be easily polished down. A bit done on the interior as well.. Thinking this will be finished tonight so I can start the assembly. Questions and comments are welcome. Edited June 23, 2014 by fitforbattle
fitforbattle Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Looks awesome! What is the paint scheme? Doing it box stock since I'm a fan of the Japanese GT-series. Here it is, she's a beauty.
fitforbattle Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Finished the interior while waiting for the paint to gas out. Just need to attach the roll cage and dash. Minimal effort, except for seatbelts and some sit-wear on the suede seat. Some shiny spots also on the steering wheel suede.
Jantrix Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Here it is, she's a beauty. Yep, and the Calsonic decal that goes over the front louvers, would do me in. Looking forward to seeing this. Good luck.

Hahaha, don't even get me started... I've had nightmares about this for the last few nights. Nah, had some practice with some other race cars and also, Tamiya are nice enough to provide a step-by-step tutorial on how they did it. It'll go just fine! (I keep telling myself that )
935k3 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Looks good. A tip for the decal to conform instead of using a solvent(most are too strong for Tamiya decals)is to using a steaming hot, damp Q-Tip pressed against the decal. Also if decals do not stick try using a little Future applied by Q-Tip under the decal. Windex or Ammonia can be used to get rid of the excess Future. For bigger decals press them with a hot damp cloth. Edited June 25, 2014 by 935k3
fitforbattle Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Thanks guys, makes me glad you like it. Brakes and calipers done, AP Racing. Tires almost done, need some position and driver markings, and rims need weathering/shadowing and some bolts and decals.
fitforbattle Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 Simulated both tyre wear and thermal degradation. Some asphalt in the rims. Just need to mess down the inner rim.
fitforbattle Posted June 25, 2014 Author Posted June 25, 2014 And the wheels are done. I'm kinda happy with them.
superbike-shaun Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Robin! Big tyme awesomeeeeeeeeeeee the wheels are my fav part so far, of course that paint is awfully shiny too lookin super! Shaun.s

fitforbattle Posted June 26, 2014 Author Posted June 26, 2014 Guys, need some help. Or pointers really, fairly new to Tamiya TS, how long should I wait until I can color sand? Will 1200 grit wetsand suffice?
Geordi08 Posted June 27, 2014 Posted June 27, 2014 As long as you can. I did not wait long enough before I shot clear over it and it dried, cracked and left a crazed texture, not what i wanted, but looks interesting. If you can smell the paint, its still off gassing. I usually leave my car bodies at lest 3 days, the longer the better.

fitforbattle Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Sooooon! My first model to make the move from Workbench to Under Glass. Just Semi-final assembly left. Polished the body today and painted some detail. Left to do is P/E and some tedious decal work. But I can feel the finish line. Stay tuned! /Robin
maltsr Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Have fun Robin, and those decals may take longer than you expect Here's mine that I built some time ago:
