Chariots of Fire Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I built this rig a few years ago using a Modelhaus resin casting for the cab. The front mounted pump represents a Darley 750 gpm unit. The portable tank is removable and folds out. Body uses a Monogram AC Mack tank that was cut short.
Silver Foxx Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Excellent work , a lot of nice detail , well done .

Danno Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Magnificent, Charlie! *Full disclosure: I've seen it before . . . and it was magnificent then, too! Good to see you posting here again.
Old Buckaroo Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Very nice, and I really like the cab style. A different background and I would of thought this was your reference pic ! What did you use to make the hoses ? Up here in the PNW you find a few small towns still using older equipment and it is always a treat to see such.

Up here in the PNW you find a few small towns still using older equipment and it is always a treat to see such. The hose is made of sewing elastic. You can find it in most places like Walmart, Target or fabric stores. Comes in 1/8" and 1/4" widths and is white. I stained the soft suction with some Floquil earth color that was thinned out. You have to do it before installing it however as it tends to stretch the material. Let it dry then install and it works great. Couplings are either brass tubing or aluminum tubing depending on the age of the hose. Edited June 24, 2014 by Chariots of Fire
impcon Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Very nice!!!! I simply adore the '60-66 Chev trucks - especially the '64-66's. It's not difficult to see the workmanship and love that went into this one. Thanks for sharing.
Petetrucker07 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Thats cool idea with sewing elastic. Amazing how so many things, new or old can be repurposed
GLMFAA1 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 Nice to see it again, People you do not have any idea what Charlie's models are like until you see them in person. He makes the Faberge Eggs of fire models. greg
