NYLIBUD Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I hope he comes to my area.I was pretty bummed out when I missed one of the last Black Sabbath shows at the Jones Beach NY amphi theater last year.
Earl Marischal Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 Seeing pictures of my 1 year old granddaughter in the York papers at a World War 1 Centenary event representing year one together with a 100 year old veteran. Proud grandad here!! steve
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2018 Posted November 11, 2018 I was able to go for a 3-hour walk with only 2 aspirin's-worth of pain. It's been slow coming back after I cracked my pelvis last summer, but sitting idle and accepting being semi-crippled didn't sound too appealing. Still working off the lard I packed on while I was semi-immobile. It takes time, much more time for an old fossil than for a young whippersnapper, but it's worth it in the end. Far, far better to be a fit old man than a fat old man.
cobraman Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Three hour walk is darn good. I walk everyday but most are under 1 1/2 hour. Do you have a nice place to walk or is just in a neighborhood ? Oh, not saying a neighborhood walk could not be a nice place. Sounded bad after I wrote that.

For walking, there's a nice big office park two blocks from my house that's pretty much deserted on weekends. It's dotted with large stands of pines and hardwoods, coupla lakes with year-round geese, ducks, turtles, fish, and a fairly regular solitary great blue heron. When I want to actually hike, there's Kennesaw Mtn., about 5 miles away, with over 17 miles of trails, some of them pretty rugged. When I was younger, I used to stay in shape hiking at Kennesaw at least every other day after work, and miles on the weekends. Now it's pretty crowded unless you get there at dawn...and I prefer my woods as quiet as possible.
olsbooks Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 While far from Richard Simmons or jack lelane, that's great your able to get out and bumble about. Crippled and or disabled sucks. Every day is a fight of mind over body it seems with most saying "you can't" or "accept it" when with a little effort and creativity the obstacle can be overcome. Then the blowback and resistance really begins. Keep it up. Prove it to and for yourself if for no other reason. Peace
cobraman Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 One of the many walking paths by my house . Finally cool enough to use them without walking at 5 am .
High octane Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 For walks I use the treadmill at my local YMCA, where I don't have to watch for cars or deal with inclement weather conditions. It works for me. I also use some of the other equipment there as well.
mikemodeler Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Finding out that The Modelhaus website was open and taking orders today, got a few more pieces for the stash. Also was glad to leave the rainy and cold Carolinas to get to the rainy and warm beaches in South Florida.
NYLIBUD Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) I was off today, but bored,so I ordered a bunch of car stuff online that I really do not need. But I bought it anyway.Diecast, parts for my cars.JL cars. The one I like the most is JL's new black 1980 Malibu.,with dog dish hub caps,The car looks mean.A nice sleeper....And then some other stuff that like I said,I don't need, but bought them anyway.Oh well.Hey Nice car Edited November 13, 2018 by NYLIBUD
olsbooks Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 (edited) That's a neat little set of wheels. Has state fleet car written all over it.. Our drain commisioner/mosquito control authority drove one like that for eeons. I'm kidding, sort of, but you get the idea. A pleasing bit on this end was a discovery for painting realistic looking wood for ship decks made of plastic...cheap and easy. One of those "Oooh, that actually worked and turned out decent" kind of things. Kind of neat discovering it instead of hitting the net or YouTube for pointers. Warm fuzzies. Peace Edited November 13, 2018 by olsbooks

Cool thing about those govt. agency vehicles 'round here is that a LOT of 'em got ordered as essentially police vehicles with wider, stronger wheels, heavy anti-sway bars, dual exhausts, upgraded alternators...etc. Then they'd get driven easy by building code or zoning enforcement, were well maintained, and never got the hard treatment cop cars generally do. Find one of those...and I've seen them auctioned off with less than 25k on the clock...and you have a stout old piece that'll run forever.
iamsuperdan Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 Super excited. Got my tickets for Iron Maiden next summer.

Tom Geiger Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 Chuckle of the week... I was up in Massachusetts on Thursday and decided since it wasn't snowing up there yet, I'd make a dash and see how far south I could get. I got two hours into my trip when the snow was falling hard in Connecticut, so I stopped in Vernon, CT and found a Days Inn that had rooms available. I bunkered in and by morning the roads were clear and I had a good trip home. The chuckle... hotel bathroom. What's wrong with this photo? I could barely get a finger down there to flush! What code inspector let this one slide? And I'm wonder if it was just my room or is the entire motel like this?
slusher Posted November 18, 2018 Posted November 18, 2018 (edited) 67 Saturday and the whole week is forecast to be sunny and warm... Edited November 18, 2018 by slusher
russosborne Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 The Pinto forum I am on is back up. Was starting to go through some serious withdrawals. Russ
HomerS Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 Today is the final pre-teen birthday for my youngest. The wife stopped going to hockey games with me years ago (I still believe the wedding vows should be changed from "I do" to " I use to, but not anymore!!". She actually had the idea of going to the ECHL Cincinnati Cyclones game to night, I don't know what site she was on, but got four tickets right behind the opposing team (Kalamazoo Wings) penalty box. I'm okay with it as he's not going to hear any worse language than what slips out at home from either of his parents. One of their players was a frequent flyer to the box tonight (three consecutive trips) and on the third trip, saw Garrett and tossed him a game used puck over the glass when he entered the box. I think he is sleeping with the puck tonight!! This is one of the reasons I prefer the minor league teams!! The players try harder as they wanna make it to the next level and they appreciate their fans! He just made a 12 year olds day...no, year!! I will reach out to the team next week when the front office is back from the holiday and make a donation to the team's charity in that players name (Ben Betker)
Tom Geiger Posted November 22, 2018 Posted November 22, 2018 It is neat when something cool happens to you. Much better when it happens for your kid!
