model1:25th scale Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 here is my new IDEA that I am working on. and I have the revell 1/25 Scale Peterbilt auto carrier from ebay. and I am going to put my idea with this kit. I am using old trees and extra ramps from the Galaxie 38 foot Fifth wheel trailer kit. to help me with my idea. I am working on the ramp supports, and yes the hood dose open and close freely. and no I am going to use the tractor in the picture.
DynoMight Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Joseph, this is looking cool! Although I would look into posting this under the On The Workbench: Big Rigs section found here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showforum=6
LDO Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 When you mentioned that trailer, my first thought was impossibly long sleeper.
model1:25th scale Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 this si why I am figuring the length out getting the ramp stoppers at the end making the ramp supports , once I get the revel transport kit in i'll check the sleep. but to be very honest when that kit came out back in the 90's they should have add the top ramps. but thank you
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Gotta watch those "clearance" numbers on underpasses pretty close.
Fabrux Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Gotta watch those "clearance" numbers on underpasses pretty close. That being said, all the auto transporters that I have seen in person have a vehicle or two on the roof of the tractor. The tractors, however, could best be described as "lowriders"; they definitely do not sit at the usual height for road tractors.
jbwelda Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 since you are using a galaxie trailer you should enter this into the MCM special contest. I don't know the details offhand but it could be coming due sometime soon jb
model1:25th scale Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 thank you all for you comments. and I have seen a few carrier transports or (parking lots) and I thought it might be a cool idea. and thank William Just. for that I will check it out
