crazyrichard Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 put them on the bench .. together with a sort of carb part , got that from my partsbox , dechromed it drilled the top and side open and chromed it .. then washed it with black .. the battery isnt done just loose on there needs yellow caps and terminals here you also see the engine good , the steel rods / pins with actual springs around them
crazyrichard Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 thnx dave went on with the battery , made terminals from copperwire , bend thin copperplate into clamps (cant get a shrap shot in the evening light) painted the fil caps yellow .. now the black on the top and the yellow caps , that paint weared of a bit due to handeling .. so that needs to be reworked then started a table version battery charger , choose a vintage feel / look , thats why i made clamps at the battery side instead of modern squeeze thingy's lol
Ramfins59 Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Richard, I've been holding off on posting any comments on this project until it was completed, but the way you keep adding more and more scratchbuilt items that look so great, I just had to say how fantastic you're making everything look. Keep up the great work.
crazyrichard Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 thnx rich .. and way more to come
bobthehobbyguy Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 The engine stand came out great. Battery and charger are looking good.

crazyrichard Posted November 23, 2014 Author Posted November 23, 2014 i made a display counter / case ... bend some clear sheet here you can see how the corners are bend round , this stuff can be cut with scissors , knife , bend it wont split or crack .. vanavond eens een vitrine gaan maken gewoon een laag simpel model .. dat glas spul wat ik had gekocht buigt dus perfect met een mooie ronde hoek ... super spul dit was in de verzin fase ... hier zie je wel mooi de gebogen ruit then turned it around made a edge and a clear counter top i wil prob. make a frame under it with legs so you can see under it and its a tad higher

crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 everything past the 25 of november is gone ?? and not only in my thread
Tukkerdax Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 not only this threat, but a lot more is missing. what happened ????
ferrari87 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 here we go again... my entire thread on my dio is missing....
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 yes i saw what the problem was .. whell later on i will repost some of the nicer posts for people who want to see how its build .. for now i wil just continue where i was made a print for a double sided sign that i want to hang on the corner of the office and started on the first serious metal sign .. this time the result was like ... lets say i was real happy .. so i removed the rest of thesigns and will redo everything no smoking really round and i think close to what the real thing looks like also redid the wear your goggles sign , made it slightly bigger a sign next to the rolling door
crazyrichard Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) just made a mopar sign a more old and battered sign .. dented it slightly and even made a bullet hole in it lol the rear bend the brass plate and added a plastic piece to glue it to the wall on the wall i will drill some holes later and add "bolts" crappy evening light picture but .. the other ones are real close up here how you see it more on sight standing in front of it Edited December 9, 2014 by crazyrichard
gasser59 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 (edited) This is progressing so nicely. In one of the missing posts, I suggested the possibility of adding a potted plant or two. I did in my dio and it adds a nice subtle touch. Edited December 9, 2014 by gasser59
crazyrichard Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 yes i saw it and replyed that it could be a cool idea and that your watercooler was like a light bulb moment i really need to make a watercooler btw the signs where screwed , 2 of them the greens had been running and made the white of the paper green ... after removing a sign and looking what could have caused it i think i found it .. i glued the paper direct in the brass plate and clear tape over the paper so it was sealed .. then i used superglue to glue the brass to the wall/// i figure the brass reacted and maybe even not that but the paper glued on the rbass could aslo make the ink go weird .. so i redid the 2 signs (just finished) and now i first put clear tape on the brass .. then glued the paper on the tape on brass .. so it should be protected from the brass side .. then put the tape on top of the sign and glued it with normal glue ... so i hope they now stay the color they should be and also the running made them more fuzzy .. so i hope to see crisp signs tomorrow
crazyrichard Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 here is the new version .. also changed the tone a tad and before giving it its clear tape payer put some oil paint on the corners , so far its going good no sign of running ink made a small vintage weiand sign for the left side of the office desk .. i didnt use copper because of the scaling printed a mexican blancket .. the tape is medical tape and is sort of cloth like tape on its shine through and gives a cloth look now i will make a nother version of the mexican blanket with a nother technique might be even better and will be more colorfull , the tape makes it go pale
gasser59 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Richard - there's a fabric product made so you can run it through your printer. It works quite well. I used it on my Mexican blanket in my teardrop dio. I found it at Michael's, a stateside craft store. Hopefully someone over there carries it. And here it is in place. Loving this build of yours. Makes me want to build another dio.
crazyrichard Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 whouw thnx didnt know about that stuff i will look for some 4 sure !!
