chunkypeanutbutter
New readers: don't be disparaged by these first posts! It gets better, I promise! Trying to find a 1/24 or 1/25 farm tractor was not something I wanted to pursue any further. AMT Ertl made some, but I don't have $90 plus shipping to buy models. I had this Freightliner cabover lying around which I hated and it's lending its parts to this tractor I'm making. I have a lot of reference for tractor stuff, as there are some examples of these fine machines in the yard This is our Farmall H, of which I'm getting basic tractor-y ideas from. More to come.... chunkypeanutbutter
Got Loctite last night, which was delaying my builds. Changed the frame on this to just Evergreen. The rear wheels won't be duallies, just singles. I don't know if I'll make custom wheels or not. Thoughts? Comments? Color suggestions? I was thinking a Case Orange and Tan or Oliver Red and Green. Chuck Most
Homemade tractor, with ingredients from a truck? I like it. It seems to happen with some frequency in 1:1.
chunkypeanutbutter
Yes, but less hectic than that! Possibly I'll make a bucket for it.
chunkypeanutbutter
Currently working... Added an exhaust pipe, steering spindle, and a possible grille idea. Yay for productivity!
bobthehobbyguy
Nice start. I would suggest you make the frame rails beefier. That engine looks pretty heavy. Keep up the good work.
chunkypeanutbutter
Yeah, I was thinking that! just ran out of plastic, though. This tractor is what I'm planning on being a piece of historical fiction, something with a fake backstory and whatnot. I was just told it was a Cummins engine in here. It was from a White Freightliner, so the engine is anachronistic. I'm thinking fifties or sixties styling on this, mostly because of the tricycle front end. Also decided to scrap the bucket idea because a trike tractor with a fully loaded bucket is NOT cool to drive. chunkypeanutbutter
Reattached the grille, with a radiator now. Beefed up the frame, as you can see. __________________________^ We'll put the PTO here! Right here!
chunkypeanutbutter
Headlights and steering! The frame is still rough. I attribute this to (a) not having putty, (2) not caring, and (c or 5) it's gonna be a bit rusty anyways. Going to make the seat tonight, possibly paint O__o
chunkypeanutbutter
Here it is with paint! It's painted with Model Master Italian Red, which matches Rust-Oleum Sunrise Red, thus matching Farmall Red! Still needs headlights and a gas tank.... Sickle bar mower? Hmmm.... Harry P.
Ok, you're really going to have to explain how that steering linkage can possibly work. Because it can't...
chunkypeanutbutter
Ok, you're really going to have to explain how that steering linkage can possibly work. Because it can't... I'll fix it on my next one! Come on, it's my first tractor.
