redneckrodder Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Which stripe set....also need some suggestions for the color of the stripes
Petetrucker07 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Id go with the same color as the frame of the frame is different from the cab. The kind of stripes...... Thats a tough 1. If youve had a vision of what you wanted, stick with it. The stretch.. It really helps to "block" it up to the height its gonna be sittin at, then set the rims and tires in a few different places and stand back till you like where they are. Then proceed with cuttin. If you make nice, clean, square cuts you shouldnt need much putty
redneckrodder Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 Ive been leanin towards the kw style stripes...i have a pic of them but its on my laptop...was thinking red for the stripes but not too sure about that now
redneckrodder Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 these are the stripes i was thinking about
Old Buckaroo Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 That paint looks real smooooth ! Is it black or a charcoal ? Those stripes would be nice. If it was me I would opt on painting and use some decals.
redneckrodder Posted September 24, 2014 Author Posted September 24, 2014 the can said graphite metallic...i figured it would be a lot lighter but it is pretty dark charcoal grey
redneckrodder Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 should I paint the frame charcoal grey to match or just paint the stretched section black...frame looks way longer in the pic than it really is
Superpeterbilt Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 It needs contrast. Paint the frame yellow, or fire engine red.
Petetrucker07 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Surprised you didnt say ace hardware saftey red terry. Tanner if your gonna paint the frame grey like the cab, the grey on the cab should be your stripes, which would be the easiest way to do the stripes, using the grey as base color. Just cut out some making tape in the design you want, lay it on, clear it, then paint your next color. But its on a suggestion
redneckrodder Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 might paint the frame the base color then paint the tanks the same color as the stripes when i make the decision...want to go with something metallic for sure though
redneckrodder Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 I'm just sitting here in study hall wondering what color to go get either tonight or tomorrow
redneckrodder Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Attached the axle i got from jt the other day
redneckrodder Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 just sitting here listening to country music waitin for my parts to show up...hopefully i can get a general or bison to twin with this truck...spent study hall looking at pics of generals and bisons, now i really want one...funny thing is i'm not much of a chevy fan
redneckrodder Posted October 1, 2014 Author Posted October 1, 2014 these pics are the ones making me want to do a general or bison
Jim B Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 I like this stripes. They look very Kenworth-ish. So you know, the General or Bison will REALLY try your patience. They are not very well fitting kits. Just a thought, but shouldn't you be studying or doing homework in study hall?

redneckrodder Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 I got my stuff from clayton today...decided to repaint the transmission black instead of keeping it flourescent orange...made some makeshift axle pin holders to temporarily install the front wheels...told you guys the stretch was long...was stretched about 3 scale feet if my calculations were correct
kilrathy10 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Looking really good, Man....I like the striping idea.....Should look pretty cool, thataway...
redneckrodder Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Thanks jt...praise coming from an expierienced builder like yourself and others really help out with motivation...my biggest issue with the stipes is just how much they look like kw stripes
Truck parts Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Very nice build, and like what you have done, and you what you are going to do.
redneckrodder Posted October 5, 2014 Author Posted October 5, 2014 Thanks...thinking of mettalic red stripes, frame and accents
