don't let it bother you; it's an internet forum.

there's some good help here, and you'll soon separate the sheet from shinola.

hobby-on!

Well just for the record I didnt leave the forum. I was just sitting back laughing to myself. I cant believe this whole post but I do really appreciate the pictures and information given. My bad on the extra (m) I never was very good at english. Didnt really try and start a peeing match but I also didnt realize this was a grammer page either. No harm no foul for me I can easily overlook the bi##hing no skin off my teeth. Probably more than 1 mistake in this post to so correct away.

Glad you are still around. You'd be amazed at how some of the most benign topics can spin out of control.

So are you planning to build the malco gasser.

By the way, there was a SOHC motor on eBay, the block is Ford Blue. Aluminum heads and front plate.

It's was only $65 K !!

Glad you're back, Jarred. I apologize if I came off as a smartasss, and I really didn't intend to be picking on you, honest (though I can see that it may have looked that way).

Anyhow, there are a lot of good people on this forum willing to help point you in the right direction, and to share a vast amount of knowledge and experience.

Just as an FYI, the Ford SOHC came with cast iron heads.

Daddyfink, here's a FYI for you;

"Perkins has two other complete 427 SOHC engines, both fitted with aluminum heads that became available separately and additional “experimental” gear designed for racecars."

This is from the article, so I'll be doing my model with alu heads, they look better.

By the way, lots of guys get irritated as well, when someone comes out and constantly wants to correct info that's posted. Me included. If you think there only iron-headed SOHC's, it's OK by me. You don't need to quote me, just write it like the way you see it.

"And for photos and other information, have you heard of doing a google search?" Ace-Garageguy

Just to show we are all infallible, Bill it's Google not google and HP did post on the 16th after the melee began.

I am glad to see Jarred still here and willing to put up with a bunch of... well you fill in the sentence.

And I'm pleasantly surprised to see the thread unlocked, nice job everyone.

Personally I do not consider myself to be infallable because I am not perfect and make mistakes. Therefore I am actually not infallible because I am prone to error.

Is that a double negative?

Holy erroneous pedantry, Batman.

Since YOU brought it up, James, "infallible" means "incapable of making mistakes or being wrong.". You have used it incorrectly. You should have used "FALLIBLE", which means "capable of making mistakes or being erroneous."

Substitute the correct word meaning in your first sentence to get the meaning you intended, but failed to convey:

Just to show we are all capable of making mistakes , Bill it's Google not google and HP did post on the 16th after the melee began.

bobthehobbyguy used "infallible" correctly, and there is no double-negative in his statement.

If you're going to correct English, try to get it right.

P.S. I see you also corrected your prior use of "may-lay" to "melee". Excellent. B)

Thank you for the continued educational experience.

I believe I've learned more in this conundrum of humility than any other MCM thread since before joining in! I think...

Well guys, I for one actually learned a lot more about the Malco Mustang as a result of this thread than I'd ever suspected.

I think it's fascinating that the car was built on the old Willlys chassis, for one, and that Ford was pressuring Montgomery to use the smallblock.

The car really IS a gas-class icon, and the first of the "late-model" bodied gassers. It's good stuff to know. :D
